My issue is always: Well why not? Now there is no hard evidence as you both said against or for this relationship. It's true Makoto and Ami spend alot of time together, it's true you think Naoko would at least hint at it somewhere if it was to be. So we've established that this debate is not canon - it's speculation. Now truly, we've seen Mars and Venus and obviously Sailor Moon be interested in boys at one point. Makoto is obviously attracted to Motoki in both the manga and the anime. Ami is attracted to Urawa who only appears in anime. Now of all the girls (besides the Usagi/Seiya combination) we can draw conclusions based on this and come up with this: Ami is too focused on school. She's not really all that concerned about relationships in the series. Now I would be interested to know that after she develops after she "loosens" up. Ami is a very focused person, unlike some of the others (Well Rei is mildly focused) who are busy chasing around guys instead of studying for school. So really it's in the realm of fandom what happens to them. I'm personally a fan of the Ami-Makoto idea because I think they mesh well. Maybe there's some sort of bi-curiousness in there since Makoto & Ami were infatuated w/ guys at one point. Makoto's swooning over every guy she sees, but we NEVER see Ami-chan EVER showing affection towards a guy. Hmmz, but it's pretty obvious they don't hate each other, far from that. I think that if given the chance, they'd be quite interested in each other, same with Minako and Rei (although, applying the 'wass sich liebt, dass neckten sich' quote, Rei could also be suspected of being interested in Usagi). As far as Rei being interested in Usagi, maybe you should reread Hawk's challenge post on Sailor Mars. While I have been watching the SM, SMR, & Stars series, I have seen Rei be more sisterly to Usagi than anything else. If anything, Rei's prolly jealous of Usagi being with Mamoru anyways. Hmmz, well, we see a lot of chemistry between those two, whether it be sisterly love or romantic interest, remains speculation. One sees what one wants to see I guess (which goes double for me ^^;; )

Yes, according to the SuperS Special: Ami-chan no Hatsukoi, Ami-chan gets a horrible reaction to love letters. It may just be a natural defense.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Everybody reacts differently to love letters. Take my friend and I for example. In Year 10, there were these guys who had huge crushe son us, and they sent us loove letters. My friend blushed completley and started screaming and jumpin up and down.. while me.. eh, what can I say? I couldn't believe my eyes. I ended up ot opening it and I've still got it to this day.
Moral of this story: Was there supposed to be one?

Guys had crushes on you? I was missing something in high school... LOL! Oh well, most of the guys were either feral or gay *shrug* But yeah, you're right, it depends on the person. Ami's naturally quite shy and distant so I can understand that she'd probably just be embarrassed over the whole thing more than anything else. She's probably insecure about herself too, so she'd think "What? A guy actually likes me?"

Yeah.. that's basically how I felt. I felt very insecure in high school, and I still feel like that abit now. Aw well.

The same thing happened to my little brother when he was sixteen. It was really freaky. He was like "Sorry dude, my door doesn't swing that way" and was really nice about it though. It was pretty hilarious.

Well, I didn't even realise the guy was gay until he actually tried to seduce me ... yet another experience in my life *throws it onto the huge stack of bad experiences*

Well no ofense but i dont like the idea of ami and mako be together That's okay, really. I mean, you're entitled to your own opinion. It's just when pplz get all 'that's gross' 'n 'you're freaks for thinking that' which pisses me off sometimes. I think you made an example of how to state one's opinion towards someone who you disagree with.
