A wolfgoyle sits down in the back of a man made tunnel. Above ground, where the people walked, it was night. The light from one of the many street lights was funneled through one of the sewer drains, illuminating the creature's deep purpleish blue eyes.
"Hello. It is nice to see people visiting. It is nice to meet you. You are braver than most, if you are willing to come all the way down here alone," the creature greets you, the reader, "Since you have made it down here, I will tell you my name and my story. The people of the sewers know me as The Lone Star. I wasn't always the beast you see before you now. Let me tell you my story..."

The sun cast itself through the blinds of a young platinum blonde woman. At first glance you would think she was still in her teens, but she was twenty two years old.
The young woman turned over in her bed and immediately regretted it. The sun hit her full force and she jumped out of bed. She stretched and went to the kitchen, finding her roommate already awake.
"Good morning Aiko," the young woman's friend greeted her.
"Morning Amara," Aiko mumbled as she walked into the room.
Amara laughed, "The sun wake you up and put you on the wrong side of the bed this morning?"
"Yeah," the blonde woman said, "Well I wouldn't be like that if I had someone like you do. Getting to wake up in someone's arms."
Amara looked sadly at her friend, "I'm sorry, I didn't realize how sore a subject it was for you."
Aiko smiled tiredly at the other woman, "Why can I never stay mad at you?"
The young woman walked over to her friend, who had been sitting at the kitchen table, and gave her a hug.
Amara laughed and put her hand over one of Aiko's, "Don't worry so much. You will find someone perfect for you, someday."
Aiko tightened the hug for a slight second, then turned to the fridge for something to eat, "Do we still have those cinanimin rolls I got a couple days ago?"
"They might be in the meat dawer. Isn't that were you left them?"
The platinum blonde turned to her friend and smiled, "Trust you to reWarrior everything that goes on in this appartment."
The other woman smiled in return, "Is that such a bad thing?"
"I guess not," Aiko said while looking up at the clock, when she read the time she had to stifle a shout, "Oh no! I'm gonna be late!"
"For what?"
"I signed on to be a counselor at the Forest Lodge for about a month, you don't reWarrior that?"
"You never told me. I can't reWarrior things I haven't been told about," was the calm reply.
"Alright, to make it up to you, you can use my care the entire time I am gone, but, you have to give me a ride out there."
"Ok, that works for me," the other woman said as she stood from the table.
"Figures," Aiko said slightly amused, "Ok, give me 15 to take a shower and get dressed."
"Alright."
Showered and dressed for fun, Aiko sat in the passenger seat of her car, figetting.
"What's the matter?" You're usually not jumpy like this," Amara stated.
"I'm nervous about the kids."
"What? Are you worried that they won't like you? How could you not get along with them? You are a big kid yourself."
Aiko turned down the volume on the car stereo, shaking her head.
"Hey, that was one of...," Amara's complaint died on her lips as she turned to look at her friend, "What's wrong?"
"The kids aren't all that I am worried about..."
"One of your *feelings* again?" the other woman asked serious.
Aiko nodded grimly, "If anything, I'm more worried about the safty of the other campers."
"Is that why you took that job offer?" Amara asked.
The other woman nodded again.
"I see. Just promise me that you'll come back safe."
"I'll try, I don't know what I will be up against or what will happen," the blonde stated sadly, "but thank you for worrying about me."
"Hey, what are friends for?"
A smile that hid Aiko's sadness lit her face, "Thanks Amara."
The rest of the ride was quiet, save for the soft music on the radio. When they reached the camp, Amara was the one who broke the silence that had settled itself over the two women.
"How come no one is here?"
"Most of the counselors are already here. They were required to report at least a day early so they can get a little familiar with the grounds before the kids get here."
"That makes sense," Amara said thoughtfully, "Do you need any help carrying your things in?"
"You don't have to."
"I'm not about to sit back and watch you haul all this stuff in! What do you want me to carry and where do you want me to put it?"
Aiko laughed and grabbed a black plastic bag from the trunk and put it in a box she had brought along, "If that's the case, you can carry my suite case and follow me."
After the two had set their burden down, Amara took the time to look over the small cabin, "This is the bunk you will be staying in?"
"Yeah," Aiko said with a sigh, "This is going to be my home for a month."
Amara hugged Aiko tightly, catching her off guard, "Just promise to come back safely."
The platinum blonde recovered from her initial shock and hugged the other woman just as tightly, "Thank you, Amara. I will come back."
Aiko saw her friend off and turned back to the cabin.
'I don't really like the feeling I am getting from being here in this place."
She used the key she was given and locked the cabin's door, then sent to the main cabin to meet the other counselors.
She had been in the main cabin for only a few minutes when another woman stopped her to talk to her.
"Hi, my name is Eliza. I hear that you and I are going to be partner counselors."
"Oh... I was never told about that," Aiko said a little taken aback.
"Don't worry. It doesn't take long to get used to it. This is my second time."
The platinum blonde shook her head, "I'm sorry for being so rude. My name is Aiko. How many kids are usually in a group?"
"There are normally ten teens to a pair of counselors."
Aiko nodded and looked around the room, she had been thinking it was going to be a smaller group of counselors, but there had to have been more than twenty six people in the room.
"Eliza, where is the equipment to set up the swimming area?" a tall light brown haired young man asked.
"That stuff is in the boat house," the young woman said, then turned back to Aiko, "That's Todd. He is doing this for community service hours. He's twenty five and he is on peroll for theft and forgery."
Aiko's eyes went wide enough to let them fall out of the sockets, "He doesn't look the type to do that kind of thing. And how did you get that kind of information on him?"
Eliza wrapped her arm around Aiko's shoulders and led her outside.
"I'm an internet freak. If I get a funny feeling about someone, I try to find out as much about that person as I can. Especially if they have any dark skeletens in the closet like Todd."
Aiko nodded and saw a completely different view than when she first went to the main cabin, "Did we come out the same door that I went in? Odviously not."
"No, it's not the same door. If you look down there, between the stand of trees, you can see the lake."
The blonde strained her eyes and saw light reflected off the shiny surface of water, "Yeah, I see it."
"If you go down there at night, you can watch the sun set. It is so beautiful to watch. The colors playing across the sky while the sun sinks lower and lower on the horizon."
Aiko smiled, "You sound like my friend Amara when you talk like that."
"Is that a bad thing?" Eliza asked, a worried look on her face.
The young blonde shook her head vigorously, "No, not at all. I actually miss her. I haven't been gone more than an hour and I'm already home-sick."
Aiko recieved a slight hug in responce, "That will eventually fade. The first week or so is a little bumpy and you may have a little bit of trouble."
"Well, if I'm with my friend's twin, then I shouldn't have too much of a problem."
Both women laughed as they continued their treck down to the water's edge.

In a cave not too far away a creature was starting to wake.
<I smell fresh meat.>
A wolf's head poked out the front of the cave. You would have been a fool to mistake this animal for a simple wolf. The body, that was so easily hidden from the rest of the world, was shaped like a human male, but ultimately closer in size to a grizzly. A tail, starting at the base of it's spine, started very fat and ended in a pin point tip. The claws the creature wielded were able to leave gouges in solid stone.
It stretched effortlessly and stood, standing on it's two hind legs like a human. A pair of wings, that when spred, would take your breath away from the span, were neatly folded around it's shoulders, giving the creature the apperence of wearing a cloak. The creature sniffed the air and grinned.
<I smell two are near.>
It snuck out of the cave and shimmied up a tree trunk. It wanted to watch what way the approching humans would come from. It didn't take long before it heard rustling in the underbrush and heard people talking. Two people emerged into a clearing that led up to the water and gave the viewer an eyeful of the lake. The creature watched with intense intrest, staying close enough to hear them, but far enough away they shouldn't be able to detect it.
Stepping into the clearing, Aiko immediately started to get a weird feeling and became antsy from wanting to get away. Eliza didn't notice the other woman's anxiety and kept walking.
"This lake is beautiful. I've been told by the other counselors that if someone you like askes you to go on a boat ride with them across it, you are destined to be together."
"That's-that's nice Eliza-," Aiko jumped when she heard a twig snap, "but do you mind if we get out of here, please?"
At this the other woman stopped in her tracks an turned on Aiko so fast she didn't see the other woman turn around.
"I'm telling you about this place and you would rather stay inside like all the other counselors."
"No, it's not that at all," the blonde woman said starting to shake, "The sceen is beautiful, I don't think painters could do justice to it even if they really tried. It's just that, I have a feeling that something bad is going to happen here."
Eliza started looking scared, "Please, tell me that you are kidding...."
Aiko shook her head, "I really wish I could, but unfortunately I can't. I am a wiccan and I am pretty in tune with the things around me. I can't be here anymore."
Aiko turned and ran in the direction of the camp, stoping and turning around to see if Eliza would follow her back, but she wasn't. She stopped, and against her will, went back to see is she could find the other woman, but turned up nothing in the end.
'She knows this area better than I do, and besides she thought I was going back to camp. I don't think she would intentionally leave me out here if she knew I was still here,' Aiko thought.
The young woman breathed deep and let it out slowly, "I'm not going to do anyone any good if I stay nervous. She should be back at camp tonight. If she is my group counselor, then she would share the bunk with me."
Later that night, everyone was called to the main cabin for a meeting. They first welcomed the new counselors. After introductions, Aiko started getting anxuious. Eliza hadn't come back to the bunk. She had been watching the door like a hawk, but no one came in after Todd brought up the rear.
Aiko jumped and yelped when she felt a pair of hands snake around her head and cover her eyes, "Guess who...," Eliza's voice rang merrily in her ear.
The platinum blonde spun to make sure she hadn't gone crazy and started seeing things, "Where were you? I was starting to get worried about you."
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you worry about me. I have a spot in the woods that I like to go to sometimes just to get away. I used to live really close to here and when I was younger I went there. That is where I was today. I am really sorry for making you worry about me."
"Hey ladies, what's going on?" Todd asked when he walked over to them.
"Nothing," Aiko replied, "How about you?"
"You know what I heard? I heard that there is a monster around here. It is said to attack and eat people when they get too close the the heart of the forest."
Eliza's eyebrow raised, "Sure, and I'm the queen of England."
"No, I'm serious, there have been seventeen reported cases of people either turning up missing, or have been found dead in this area. There was one woman who the authorities where going to have commited because all she talked about was a beast that had a wolf's head and fur, a man's body, the tail of a lizard and the wings of a bat."
Aiko looked to her left at Eliza and the two women started laughing.
"Don't you think that you are a little old to believe in the boogie man and the ghost and monster stories people tell you to scare you?" Aiko asked through her laughing.
"I'm not kidding!" Todd said angrily as he got up and proceded to walk away.
"Hey, I have an idea," Eliza said when she was sure Todd was out of earshot, "How about I take you to go and see my favorite spot? It would be really pretty this time of night."
"Uhm..... sure....," Aiko said, between being excited and being scared.

*****Here is the second chapter!****
Half an hour found them in their bunk cabin looking for camping gear. Aiko looked for the blue tent she brought with and dug out her old faded <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=sleeping%20bag" onmouseover="window.status='sleeping bag'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">sleeping bag</a>.
The platinum blonde looked to her cabin mate and spoke, "I can't believe you talked me into sleeping by the lake."
"Come on, it's not that bad. It's beautiful out tonight."
"Yes, it is," Aiko replied as she locked up the cabin door and picked up her things she had set down next to her feet, "I just hope that is enough to settle my fear."
They started for the lake after double checking the door was locked. They stoped by the side of the lake they had been at earlier that day and after a few moments Eliza said they should get going. Aiko followed the other woman around the small lake, both stopped next to a thicket of thorn bushes.
"There is only one way through these thorns. The hole is over here."
Eliza went through the small opening and was quickly followed by a frightened Aiko.
"Wow," Aiko said, slightly awed, "I'm supprised at how big the clearing is."
"When I was younger I used to camp out here alot. I would chose this spot to sleep because there are very few people who can make it through that small gap without getting caught. I knew it was safe."
Aiko set her sleeping bag on the ground and set to work on getting the tent up. After the two women finished setting up the tent they left their <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=sleeping%20bags" onmouseover="window.status='sleeping bags'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">sleeping bags</a> in it and went to go sit by the lake again. Aiko sat on a large rock just above where Eliza sat on a small fallen tree. The blonde woman sat looking at the other, noticing how from where she sat, Eliza's black hair just about touched the ground.
"Eliza, your hair is pretty," Aiko said quietly.
"So is yours," the other woman replied while glancing over her shoulder.
Aiko ran her hand through her <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=short%20hair" onmouseover="window.status='short hair'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">short hair</a>. She had gotten it cut short so she didn't have to do too much by way of brushing it and styling it to keep it out of her eyes.
"The short hair suites you. I don't think I could imagine you with long hair. I've never seen white hair though."
Aiko blushed, "Thank you for the compliment. Just make sure you didn't get any ideas to go get your <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=hair%20cut" onmouseover="window.status='hair cut'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">hair cut</a> off. It's too pretty."
"Thank you, you are the only other person, besides me, who likes my hair like this," Eliza said with a sad sigh.
Aiko moved off her rock and sat next to the other woman on the log, carefully draping her arm around Eliza's shoulders, "As long as you like it, no one else's opinion matters."
After the words left the blonde's mouth, she felt Eliza shake with sobs. A couple seconds later Aiko found herself wrapped in and returning the warm hug the other woman gave her.
When the two let go Aiko slid off the tree to sit on the ground in a more comfortable position. Eliza followed suite and looked up at the sky.
"That cloud looks like a turtle," the raven haired woman pointed out.
The platinum blonde smiled and looked up to the sky, "And that one looks like a dragon."
The two woman sat stargazing for about twenty minutes when Aiko looked down and noticed that the other woman had fallen asleep on her shoulder. With a smile, the blonde gently woke Eliza and the two headed back to the tent. Eliza was setting out her sleeping bag when Aiko took off her top shirt, leaving her in her spegetii strap <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=tank%20top" onmouseover="window.status='tank top'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">tank top</a>. She crawled into the sleeping bag and took off her shorts.
"My, you certainly like to sleep comfortably don't you?" Eliza asked with a small laugh.
"I just don't see why I should sleep in all of my clothes and be uncomfortable," Aiko stated, "That doesn't appeal to me."
"I suppose it does make sense.," the raven haired woman said as she started to shift in her sleeping bag.
The platinum blonde looked confused, "What are you doing?"
"I'm using some of your advice. I'm starting to get hot anyway."
Eliza pulled her shorts out of her sleeping bag, folded them and put them to the side. Next she took off her shirt, folded it and set it on top of her shorts. She lay down again on her back, looking out the top of the tent.
"Everytime I come here I feel like I am home."
"Eliza...."
There wasn't any time for Aiko to finish her thought when there was a sound like lightning had struck really close. Both women jumped and heard growling so low, it could have been mistaken for distant thunder.
"What the hell was that?!" Aiko whispered harshly.
Eliza shook her head and shruged as Aiko fumbled to put her shorts back on in her hurry.
"Eliza, you stay right here. I'm going to check what that sound was. I will be right back."
The raven haired woman nodded, eyes wide. The platinum blonde took a shuddering breath to calm her nerves, then unzipped the tent. When she was out of the tent she heard the other woman zip it up again.
Looking around the clearing, she didn't see anything different, but when she went to stick her head out of the opening in the thorn bushes, she was pushed back violently. Landing on her back, she scrambled when she felt someone else's weight fall on top of her. Only when she heard the voice did she stop struggling.
"Aiko! Stop it! It's me, Todd!"
"You scared the shit out of Eliza and me! What are you doing here?!"
"I followed the two of you out here to make sure you were going to be alright," the boy stated, still holding the young woman down, "Then not more than ten minutes ago, I saw something follow you two back here. It was too large to follow you through the thorn bushes, but it's still waiting right outside as I speak. It's waiting for you. You can't go out there!"
Aiko's eyes slitted menecingly as she yanked her arms free of Todd's tight grip, "You are seriously sta-"
There was a rustle from the bushes and a loud scream that pierced the night. Both of the quaraling pair jusmped and turned pale enough to make the moon turn green with envy. One smooth motion, Todd jumped off Aiko and had her up on his shoulder, heading back to the tent. The blonde was droped on top of Eliza in his hurry to get the tent zipped all the way up again.
"Todd.... you do realize that if that if that thing wants us so bad, those thorn bushes aren't going to hold it forever. And this tent could be ripped and torn to shreds," Aiko stated.
Todd looked about ready to pass out and was breathing really fast. The blonde dug through the supplies that she had brought with. She took out her <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=water%20bottle" onmouseover="window.status='water bottle'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">water bottle</a> and gave it to the young man. He squirted some in his mouth greatfully.
"Thanks."
"Todd, may I ask why you would be willing to risk your life to help us?" Aiko said.
"Because, you especially," the young man said looking right at Aiko, "were willing to talk to me, even after all the rumors you heard about me. Most people are so scared they won't take the time to even look at me."
A blood curdling roar was heard, stopping all movement in the tent. They sat huddled in fear with Eliza sitting behind Aiko and the blond sitting off to the side of Todd.
"Todd, what does that thing want?" Eliza asked, her head just above Aiko's right shoulder and her nails digging painfully into the blonde's back.
"I don't know if it wants just one of you or both of you," Todd said seriously, "But you two don't have to worry about it 'cuz you don't believe in it, reWarrior?"
Aiko winced from the statement and the pain in her back, "We're sorry, but at the time it sounded like some child's camping story they would tell their little buddies before they went to bed," Aiko reasoned, "I'm sorry." "I'll take care of that thing. You don't have to worry."
"Todd!" Aiko shouted at the young man, "Don't you dare go out there!"
"It wouldn't know what hit it. It will be too intent on coming after you two. It wont pay any attention to me."
"Don't you dare!" the blonde stated, latching her hand to his wrist so tight and steadfast it took Todd a little by supprise.
"One thing I didn't mention before was that all the victims were female. The age range is between twenty and thirty five."
"How old was the woman you said the authorites recovered?" Aiko asked.
"She was twenty four," Todd said grimly.
There was a loud crashing sound and all three of the tent's occupants knew the creature had gotten through the bushes. For a few seconds there was no sound, then suddenly the top of the tent was ripped off. Eliza screamed and Todd lundged at the beast and knocked it down. The young man was flung away like a rag doll and landed next to the tent.
The tent, torn and tattered, collapsed to the ground, leaving the two women exposed. The creature stood and started toward the tent, intent on the two women. Aiko fummbled with her hand, never taking her eyes off the approching threat. Her hand finally brushed the water bottle she had let Todd drink out of not ten minutes before. Out of the corner of her eye, Aiko noticed with relief that Todd was awake and moving towards the tent. The young blonde kept her hand holding the water bottle out of sight of the monster and waited for it to get closer. When the creature was just five feet away she threw the bottle at it's face. The water bottle hit and exploded, sending water spraying all over it's face. The monster roared in furry.
"Run!" Aiko shouted at the other two.
The other two made it out of the thorn bushes within a few seconds, but Aiko stayed just a little behind to make sure the creature stayed in the thorns. As she ran behind the other two, she listened to the angry roars of the creature echo off the trees and fade into the night.

****Chapter 3****
Todd, Eliza and Aiko sat at a lunch table the next day. Afraid to tell anyone what they had seen the night before and anxious to meet the kids that would be coming today. The three sat in silence until one of the other counselors came over to talk to them.
"Hey you three," a young redish brown haired boy said as he walked up to the table, "What's wrong? You guys look like you've just seen a ghost."
"I'm not sure we didn't," Todd replied solemly.
"Come on, you can't tell me you actually believe the stories about a creature living in these woods. You guys aren't kids anymore."
Aiko glared up at the young man, "Who the hell are you to tell us what we did and didn't see out there?!"
"Woah, woah. No need to go all hot headed on me now. I was just saying," the boy said, his hands raised defensively, "There would be no way that a werewolf crossed with a gargoyle could survive."
Eliza layed her head on the back of Aiko's shoulder and shook with soft sobs.
"You just scared my friend again," Aiko growled, "I suggest you leave us alone before I make you atone for it!"
The young man looked scared and backed away, leaving the three alone.
"So what are we going to do now?" Todd asked, a small smirk on his face.
Aiko menuvered a little bit so she could wrap her arm around Eliza protectively, "We go back and kill it."
The young woman hadn't looked at him, but Todd knew that there was a fire burning white hot in her eyes.
He was suprised by the ferocity that Aiko was showing, "How aren't you afraid?"
"Are you kidding?" Aiko said, her eyes widening, "I almost needed a new pair of panties, but I'm not going to run away from something that endangers who I am responsible for or my friends."
The young man picked up his chin off the ground, "Wow."
Eliza wasn't shaking from sobs anymore, only her suppresed laughter at Aiko's response.
"How does your friend Amara act when you say things like that?" Eliza asked.
Aiko smiled, "She doesn't mind at all. If anything, she is the same way with me actually."
"She?" Todd asked.
"Yeah, so what?"
"The way you were talking last night, you made her sound like your boyfriend," Todd teased.
"She is a very good friend, nothing more, nothing less, and yes, there are a few qualities that I see in her that I wouldn't mind seeing in a few more guys," the blonde responded with a small smile.
Todd's eyes went wide and he paled at the silent implication, but said nothing.
The young blonde snickered and looked down at Eliza, "Are you alright?"
The black haired woman nodded.
"The next time I go out there," Aiko stated, her eyes burning, "I am going to go alone. I am not going to endanger either one of you."
"No.... Aiko, you can't do that. We are all involved, whether you want to admit it or not," Eliza stated.
The blonde shook her head, "I said no. You guys are my friends and like I said, I am very protective of my friends."
"I'm not going to let you go alone!" Todd stated in a harsh whisper.
"But I am going to. Either you can accept that or I will make it so you don't follow. I can easily hide my tracks."
"You don't know the area around here," Eliza protested.
"That makes no difference. I am usually really good at finding my way back to were I need to be."
The young black haired woman sighed, defeated, "Fine. Go alone. No wonder you don't have very many friends."
Aiko's eyebrows knitted together in anger. She was glaring daggers at Eliza through her tears.
"Eliza!" Aiko whispered, "I told you the reason I don't have many friends."
She didn't allow Eliza or Todd the chance to comment before she stood up and left the main cabin.
"What did you go and do that for?!" Todd asked, "Now you don't know what stupid stuff she might pull!"
The young man rushed out of the building following their friend. Eliza sat in her seat feeling really foolish, but not sad about what she said.
"If she thinks that her friends care for her any less than she cares for them, she is dead wrong," the raven haired woman mumbled to herself, "I'm sure Amara-"
As soon as the woman's name left her mouth, Eliza had an idea. She went to the head counselor's office and knocked on the door.
"Come in."
A man that looked younger than he really was, was sitting in a high-backed wodden rolling chair. His apperance was that of a thirty year old, but he was just a little older than fourty years old.
"Sir, Aiko wouldn't have written an emergency number on her application would she?"
"She did actually. The person's name is Amara. Why? Did something happen?"
"I just have an uneasy feeling something will go badly for her. If she were to get hurt, I want to be able to get ahold of someone who is really close to her."
The man sat back in his chair and looked in thought for a few seconds, "That is actually a brilliant idea. Let all the other counselors know there is going to be an emergency meeting in the main hall."
"But I... ok.......," Eliza said hanging her head and leaving the small cabin.
Todd ran after Aiko, suprised at her speed, 'Damn! She could be an Olympic runner for all I know. I know nothing about her except what she explained about her and her friend, Amara. Right after we ran back to the girl's cabin, she explained how she had been friends with Amara, and how they had always been like sisters since they were really young.'
"Aiko! Wait!" Todd shouted.
He knew it was usless to try and make her stop. He saw her go past the bathroom bulding but stopped short when he didn't see or hear her anymore.
'Damn! I wish she would have stayed at the meeting. She would have been given a walkie talkie so she could get help if she needed it.'

Just on the other side of the building, Aiko sat trying to stiffle her panting. She was able to run really fast, but she wasn't able to handle running that fast for that long. She listened while she sat, making sure that Todd didn't get too close. She heard him call for her a couple of times and waited to see what he would do. She was relieved when he left.
'I'm sorry Todd. I have to do this by myself.'
She waited five more minutes to make sure the young man was gone, then she stood up and started toward the trees. She went to the thorn bushes from the previous night. She winced when she saw how the hole had been enlarged when the beast tried to get Eliza and her. She saw small pieces of flesh stuck to some of the thorns, proving that something had gotten through. The pieces of skin that had been left had already turned brown from the blood drying.
'Wow,' the young woman thought to herself, 'that thing really did want Eliza and me. The hole is a lot bigger.'
She ducked through and with reliefe, noted that whatever it was, it was gone. All that was left was the torn shreds of the blue tent, the <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=sleeping%20bags" onmouseover="window.status='<a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=22&k=sleeping%20bags" onmouseover="window.status='sleeping bags'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">sleeping bags</a>'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">sleeping bags</a> and the little things that Aiko had brought along.
'What I don't understand, is if it is actually an animal, why didn't it take this stuff? You would think that it would want something that had our scents on it so that thing could track us.'
She started to pick up the tent area, bringing out the sleeping bags and rolling them up. Then she started to work on the tent itself. Five minutes and she had the tent reasonably folded so she could put it back in it's carrying bag. Just as she started to fold it, an icy chill ran up and down her back. She whipped around, knowing that the creature was quite possibly watching her.
"Hello?! Is anybody there?"
After a few seconds Aiko went back to the camping gear, and the chills down her back started to intensify. She tried to stay calm and not panic. She felt a small gust of wind on her back and looked behind her out of the corner of her eye. She saw fur covered legs, the sight of which making her heart sink into the pit of her stomach. Aiko turned around really slowly, finding herself face to face with the creature she had seen the night before. It growled and started to sniff her. She sat still, not moving, holding her ground, thinking it would lose intrest in something that doesn't fight back. To her horror, it didn't. She shook when she felt the sting of it's claws on the backs of her legs when it picked her up. The young woman yelpped, her heart beating a hundred miles a second, instinctively clinging to the fur on the creature's chest. With a deft flap of the wings, both woman and beast were up in the air.
"I was born on the solid ground and I would like to keep it that way, thank you very much!" Aiko stated, not really expecting any reaction from the creature.
It looked at her for a second from the corner of it's eye, then started to slowly decend to earth again. Aiko blinked at the reaction and decided to test how much the beast could understand.
"Hey, listen," Aiko said, her voice sounding hoarse from her throat mucles contracting because of her fear, "If you can understand me, nod once."
Again the creature glanced at her from the corner of it's eye and noded once, slowly. The young woman sat in the creature's arms, dunbfounded. She breathed in deeply and let it out really slow, willing herself not to pass out.
'Why does this feel right?'
They flew over the camp. The young woman was pretty sure that since she could see Todd and Eliza, they could see her too. She was glad that she was able to distract the creature so her friends could be safe. Aiko started to cry quietly, jumping when she felt the soft velvet if the fur on the creature's hand rub her shoulder. When she looked at the creature, it shook it's head gently. This confused the young woman even more.
"Hey, were are we going?"
The creature pointed to a clearing next to a place where the trees had been cleared to make an area where a hole was dug in the middle.
"What is that hole for?"
At this the creature pointed at Aiko.
"WHAT?!" Aiko shouted, "I'm no animal!" she pounded the creature's chest, "You can't put me down there!"
Much to the young woman's resentment, the creature went down into the hole. Aiko was suprised at how big the hole really was, to be able to accomidate the creature's wings fully spanned. The young blonde looked around the hole and noticed that a part of the wall had been worn away to provide a sheltering area for rainy nights. The young woman glared at the creature. Deciding not to make it really mad, she went and satin the part where the wall had been dug out. Facing away from the creature, she didn't see the almost pained look that flashed in the creature's eyes.
Aiko heard it jump into the air and figured that it was going to wait to kill her. She turned to look, to see if she could find any way to get out. Standing up, she looked all around the rim of the hole. Unfortunately, the lip of the hole was five feet taller than she was.
"Hello?" Aiko shouted.
Nothing above the hole moved. Not wanting to stay, the young woman went to the wall and tested how tightly packed the dirt was. She was annoyed to find that it crumbled at the slightest touch. Getting nervous and slightly scared because she was alone, the young woman shouted again, gettign the same responce, nothing. She sat back down and hugged her knees.
The next thing the young woman knew, she woke up and it was dark. She stood up and rubbed her back, trying to ease the dull pain that had begun from sleeping in the croutched position. She looked over the rim of the hole again. To her annoyance, she still didn't see anyone.
'That thing isn't coming back. It wants to starve me to death!'
Aiko looked at the watch she was wearing and pushed the glow button on it. She was suprised to see that it wasn't passed nine thirty. Figuring there was nothing else to do, the blonde decided to walk around the hole a couple of times. She was at her fifth lap when she heard a woman screaming. As she listened, the screaming kept getting louder.
"Hello! I'm over here!"
As the screaming got louder she could understand what the person was saying.
"...put me down this instant, you over grown fur-ball! If my friends Aiko and Todd find out that you kidnapped me, they will be mad!"
"Eliza......?!" the young blonde woman asked herself.
Aiko was the creature flying back carrying the raven-haired woman. She knew the moment Eliza saw her because the woman went completely silent. The creature put Eliza down and left again right away. Eiza walked over to Aiko, put her head on the blonde's shoulder and wrapped her in a tight hug.
"Todd and I were worried about you. Todd followed you, but he said that when you went passed one of the outhouses he couldn't find you. Then both of us saw that thing carrying you away."
Caught off guard, all Aiko could do was hug the raven-haired woman back and reply, "I am honored that you were that worried about me. I didn't know if you still thought of me as your friend when you got mad at me."
The grip that Eliza had tightened slightly, "I couldn't hate someone who is so willing to protect their friends. No, I couldn't hate you Aiko."
Aiko was almost in tears, but managed to blink them back and gently pushed Eliza away, "Now we have to figure a way out."
"Have you tried climbing?"
Aiko shook her head, "No good, it's so loosly packed the side would colapse as soon as you touched it."
"Then there is no way for us to get out?"
The young blonde shook her head, "No, we both aren't going to get out. The only way for you to get out is to climb onto my shoulders."
"No! I'm not leaving without you!"
Aiko sighed, "Well then we are going to have to hope that Todd can find us."
Eliza sat, her back to the dirt wall as she looked up to the stars in the sky.. Aiko sat down next to her and looked up too.
"I see the Gemini constelation," Aiko said as she pointed it out.
"I take it you are a Gemini...," Eliza asked, a smile on her face that was hidden because of the darkness.
"Yep. I'm a Gemini," the blonde said as she watched Eliza's dark form stretch.
"I need to get some sleep," the raven haired woman said, "I'm just glad that I have my jacket to use as a pillow."
