I have lived for so many centuries I have watched as humanity has grown When the Goths Came centuries ago they created my home Here Upon a flying Buttress an arch in the sky once a church now a hospital I have left and returned a thousand times over
I have seen the entirety of the world and yet here is where I belong not because of habit I look upon a young girl within that hospital's hallowed halls sick for years so many years of her young life I remember how I found her I heard her weep and was drawn inexorably to her window I could fly anywhere at any time yet I no longer leave I no longer wish to fly for the skies offered me nothing not like...her I stand gaurd at her window every night daring any to challenge me for her safety I stand and occasionally look upon my young friend She is the only one I have revealed my nature to I made faces to bring smiles and laughter to her I sang her to sleep so many times yet the years came and the years went she has grown now and can now walk again through a battle longer than she could remember Before she left I remember her opening her window A letter?!
"To my Stone friend... Thank you for your company, it made me better I hope you will visit me, signed, Rowan"
I watched as her family took her home for the first time in ten years and smiled because by nightfall her family's abode would have a new feature one that only She would understand For I Am a Gargoyle and I protect what is dear to me
