I came across this on LJ. I figured you lot could also answer these. So I present you with a writing survey. All you have to do is copy the questions (and my answers) and then just reply, pasting into your reply what you copied. Then you answer the questions the way you would answer them.
What's the last thing you wrote? Unfortunately that would have to be the short vignette, Taken.
Was it any good? I liked it. A few others read it and liked it, but when I look at it I always think it's too short.
What's the first thing you ever wrote that you still have? The Windmill Stops Turning, a huge one chaptered story, which I am currently revising.
Was it any good? No.
Write poetry? Sometimes, though my poetry never rhymes, it's just really words put in poetry form.
Angsty poetry? Not usually.
Favorite genre of writing? Drama and romance. I am trying to expand, but I'm not so good in them, which might suggest I need more practice in these genres. One day maybe.
Most fun character you ever wrote? That I ever wrote would have to be Serena Anne Evans from the novel I am currently writing called, Lost to a World at War.
Most annoying character you ever wrote? In which I write it would probably have to be Edward Bloom from Big Fish. Although he is not annoying personally it's just hard to make him seem real. If you have see Big Fish you may understand. Annoying personality wise, I would have to say the Duke.
Best plot you ever wrote? Can't actually answer this question, because I usually hate all my plots.
Coolest plot twist you ever wrote? I can't keep track. Especially those in murder mysteries. Those hurt my head.
How often do you get writer's block? I never have actually had writer's block. I have had that lazy disease where I just make excuses not to write. I am currently in one of those slumps now.
How do you fix it? Usually I just wait for inspiration, or listen to music.
Write fan fiction? Yes.
Of what? Moulin Rouge, Cold Mountain, Big Fish, Harry Potter (sometimes although I don't usually share), and other movies usually that strike vignettes.
Is it better or worse than your other writing? I actually prefer to write fan fiction, and I tend to think it's better.
Do you type or write by hand? I usually resort to my computer. I always do layouts with pen and paper though. If I am in class and have ideas, I of course have to use pen and paper.
Do you save everything you write? No.
Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it? Sometimes, if I feel I want to revise it, this is of course only if I see anything worthy of being revised.
What's your favorite thing that you've written? I can't say my favourite thing I've ever written, but I am probably most proud of A Morning After. I wrote this during special situations though, so I honestly don't care what others think of it.
What's everyone else's favorite thing that you've written? From my peers, that would probably have to be One Step Further, which of course is a poem.
Who's your favorite constructive critic? QiQi, only because I ask, and she never lies.
Do you have a website for your writings? Yes. But as of now it's undisclosed.
Did you ever write a novel? Currently working on one, but I know the entire thing will be revised when I am older.
Was it for NaNoWriMo? Come again.
Have you ever written fantasy, sci-fi, or horror? I write fantasy when I am extremely happy. Sci-fi scares me now, and I have no clue how to write horror properly.
Ever written romance or teen angsty drama? I write romance a lot. I rarely write teen angst.
What's your favorite setting for your characters? Christian's garret. Something special about it. Probably why I love, A Morning After so much.
What's one genre you have never written, and probably never will? Horror or sci-fi.
How many writing projects are you working on right now? Oh, about 9.
Do you want to write for a living? I have always wanted to be published, but for now I want to focus on my education.
Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper? Yearbook, yes.
Have you ever won an award for your writing? Yes, but it didn't mean anything much.
Ever written something in script or play format? Yes.
What are your five favourite words? I couldn't draw them out right here and now, but I tend to use encompassing a fair bit.
Do you ever parody? One day maybe.
What's your favourite thing to parody? Since I don't write it, I couldn't tell you.
Do you actually like that thing, or are you spitefully making fun of it? If I were to write it, I would probably have a liking towards it.
Do you ever write based on yourself? Rarely, but I never really can tell.
What character that you've written most resembles yourself? Probably Serena.
Where do you get ideas for your other characters? Absolutely everywhere.
Do you ever write based on your dreams? Haven't yet. I would assume it would depend on what your dream is, and since you can't control that; it's a little difficult.
Do you favour happy endings, sad endings, or cliffhangers? I favour sad endings, but it really depends on what I am writing.
Have you ever written based on an artwork you've seen? Not artwork per-se, more so pictures.
Write me a really classy simile: ...
Now write me a really dumb simile: ...
Are you concerned with spelling and grammar as you write? Grammar more than spelling, but yes.
Ever write something entirely in chatspeak? (How r u?) No.
Entirely in L337? Never.
Was that question completely appalling and un-writerlike? Yes.
Does music help you write? I change music styles depending on what I am writing, but it can't be too loud because I tend to like things quite. I can't even read with distractions, let alone write.
Do you have a weblog or live journal? Yes.
Do you write your life as if it were one of those journal books? I always tell myself I should, but I rarely do. I more so write free writes in a note book, which I carry pretty much everywhere.
Are people surprised and confused when they find out you write well? I don't tell my family, it would be much to embarrassing, they wouldn't understand, etc. I tell certain friends, but I can't say I write well, that's just me.
Quote something you've written. The first thing to pop into your mind!
This was the first thing that came into my mind:
He had come and gone quicker than any man. And since no one had ever actually left Spectre before, it had come as a shock. Watching him walk back into the woods from which he came, she stared in bewilderment. And as each antagonizing day passed, the young girl slowly and steadily drifted into oblivion, waiting on a man who promised to come back.
From the fandom, Big Fish.
