This was actualy my first attempt at writing a full length novel and as such I used the charactor names from Sailor Moon acasionaly throughout the book, however althoguh Sarena still acts like Sarena, Raye is nothing like Raye, Amy acts like Amy, but Mina is nothing like Mina...
Just flow with it and tell me what you think...If you like It, I'll send more.

My name is Matthew. That’s all you need to know for now. You will find out more soon enough. What’s important now is that you listen very carefully to my story; it is the story of our past over a hundred years ago. I am the only one still alive that can remember that fateful day, that day of reckoning. So listen carefully to the story that I will tell, for they say that the past repeats itself. For your sake, I hope that they are wrong. Cause if another alien race like the Org return, you won’t be as lucky as we were, and that’s saying something.

Chapter 1: Academy Life
Now let me take you back to a time almost one hundred years ago. Back then I was a young boy of 17 with dark brown hair, almost black. I also had brown eyes and was about 6ft tall. I was a cadet in the OSSM or Outer-Solar-System-Military. Oh, I had better explain the politics of the time. You see there were five nations at the time they consisted of: The Inner Sphere- Mercury and Venus, The UED or United Earth Derectoric- Earth and Luna (the moon). The Marsian Collation- Mars and the Asteroid Belt, The Middle Grouping- Jupiter and Saturn, and finally the OSSA or Outer-Solar-System-Alliance- Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Once every year one delegate from each nation would go to Luna and talk things over in the United Planets Building. I was with my best friends: Amy, Darien, Sarena, Mike, and Chris when I heard the news that would set off the events that would alter the course of my life forever. We were hanging around the main corridor in the Space Academy where we were all training to become fighter pilots in the OSSM. The Main hallway was the only place in the whole station that wasn’t the eternal Grey of metal. It was actually made out of wood and is a great gathering place for people who are homesick. We were sitting around talking about the Astro- Navigation test that we had just taken. It was then that the ten viewscreens showing pictures of the many beautiful places in the planets under OSSA rule changed to show a picture of the President of the OSSA. Oh, I forgot to tell you about my friends. Amy is from Uranus she has short blue hair and blue eyes; she’s about 5’4” tall and very pretty. She can be a bit serious at times but is also very nice and extremely smart. We all thought she should have been a scientist but when we told her that she just laughed so, we didn’t peruse the issue. I have quite a crush on her, but I don’t think she knows it yet. Darien is a nice guy who is from Neptune like me. Actually we met five years ago and have been good friends ever since, He has black hair with brown eyes, and he’s about 2 in. taller then me. He can be serious like Amy but he is always there with a smile and a kind word when you are down. He gets better grades then I do but, not as good as Amy. Sarena has sort of a dynamite personality; she has no middle ground and is rarely calm and laid back. Her poor grades are the talk of the school; she barley got into the Academy cause her grades are so poor. Amy tries to help her, but Sarena’s never serious about studying. She is very pretty with long blonde hair and blue eyes, she’s also about 5’5”; she grew up in Neptune. She and Darien have a major thing going on so I consider her off the market. Mike is a really nice guy, I’ve known him since we were little kids, and he always seems to be in a good mood. Mike’s only 5’7” he has brown hair with light brown eyes, and he is also from Neptune. He’s kind of my main man and best friend Chris is from Pluto, and I don’t really know that much about him. He has blonde hair and green eyes. He stays pretty quiet and takes everything seriously. When he spoke though we would listen because he would have something important to say. So, the gang and I were watching the holovision screens as the president came on. “Fellow citizens, today is a sad day for the Military, but a happy day for science. The question of weather or not we are alone in this universe has been answered.” He paused to let the effect of his words sink in. “ They are apparently hostile and reside in the Alpha Centari system.” He paused again while I thought ‘Aliens huh, interesting.’ “They attacked without provocation and destroyed our recon post in Alpha Centari, five hundred people are dead. They are apparently headed this way so we are escalating to yellow alert. That is all for the moment, but rest assured that we will keep you informed of any further details.” Yellow alert meant that we were almost in a state of war and the Academy would step up wartime studies to quickly advance cadets through the training program. Everyone but Amy cheered, “But what about our studies?” she cried out. “Don’t worry Amy,” I said. “We’ll still have time for study group.” Amy looked happier but Sarena who had overhead looked crestfallen. “So I guess we’d better report to the simulator rooms seeing as it’s Yellow alert and all.” “Chris’ right we’d better get going.” Agreed Darien “Well what are you waiting for? Let’s go!” I yelled as I raced ahead.

“All right everyone calm down and listen up!” Our simulator instructor called out. “Just because we’re on Yellow alert doesn’t mean you can slack off! This isn’t fun time this is serious business!” That caused the few remaining clowns in our training squad to calm down. Training squads were your family while you were at the Academy; you ate together, learned together, bunked in the same hallway, and fought together in the simulator room. “ Now that I have your undivided attention I have this to say, you all will be undergoing a new rigors training schedule starting now. It begins with a simulator run. Now get to it!” We all saluted and ran to our simulators. By now the routine was second nature to me. Jump into a starfighter cockpit, strap on a safety harness, check your communications system or com., and get ready of an adrenaline filled ten minutes or so. Now you might be wondering how you graduate from the school in the sky. Well it was very simple and very difficult. It all revolved around the simulator and what state of war the nation was in. For example: in our present wartime condition of Yellow alert you had to survive, not win, survive, thirty simulated missions against other students and sometimes pilots who had nothing better to do then train against rookies. In peacetime when the amount of pilots needed is less, you are forced to survive fifty missions. In red alert where pilots are being lost hand over fist normally, the amount needed decreases to ten missions. So far, my friends and I had survived a grand total of zero out of ten missions. It was at that moment the com. fired up and the mission commander, who was one of the instructors, but we never knew which one, briefed us on our mission. “All right people listen up, I’m going to be your commander for this sim. Now here are your wingman assignments. Matthew with Amy, Darien with Chris, Sarena with Mike…” As he continued down the line, I finished my preflight checklist or preflights as we called them. “The sim begins… Now!” The instructor yelled. The viewscreen ahead of me came alive to show the battle zone. I saw at once that we were going to have some problems. Our force consisted of one large class flagship, which was pretty powerful, and one squadron of fighters. The other team had four squadrons of fighters and no capital ships. “Oh great.” I muttered. “Don’t worry Matt, we’ll be okay.” Said Amy “If you say so.” “Cut the chatter! Now, spilt into flights and take it to them, each flight gets a squad which leaves one squad for the command ship!” said our commander. Oh, I had better explain another thing. Squadrons consist of twelve fighters, now Squadrons break down into flights that are made up of four fighters each, and flights break down into wingpairs that consist of two fighters. So, if a squad wants to it can fragment itself in six different directions. “Amy stick with me cause this is going to get rough!” “Roge that Matt, I’m glued.” I nodded and activated the turbo’s on my fighter, while pulling in behind the other wingpair in our flight. The lead fighter in that wingpair was Jimmy Roberts. “How do you want to play this Jim?” “Me right you left capish.” “Roge that Jim, you hear that Amy?” “Yep” Our fighters entered the enemies firing range. “Break!” Yelled Jimmy. Amy and I did hard left turns just in time to avoid enemy fire, Jimmy did a similar right turn but his wingman was too slow and got hit by the enemy. His ship exploded, my viewscreen temporarily polarized so the explosion wouldn’t blind me. The enemy squadron flew through the opening that we made for them. Amy and I banked even harder allowing us to get in behind the enemy squadron; we took aim and fired. Phsssuuuu… Phsssuuuuu…! Boom! Two enemy ships were blown away. The rest of them scattered with three wingpairs vectoring for Amy and me while the other two went after Jimmy who I saw at a glance wipe out one of his pursuers and then go evasive with three fighters on his tail. I don’t think I explained how the fighters work in space. In atmosphere if you want to maneuver there are panels on the wing that help shape the airflow over the wings and allows the plane to maneuver. In space there is no airflow so the question is what do you do? Well… what you do is position six jets around the wing, small things you can barely see them. When the pilot wants to turn the plane say to the left; the computer activates the upper jets on the left wing and the lower jets on the right, also there are similar jets on the bottom of the aircraft that gives it the thrust to make the maneuver. On the tail of the jet there are two jet engines, which individually provide 40,000 lbs. of thrust for a combined total of 80,000 lbs. This varies from nation to nation with each nation having a slightly different design of aircraft. The OSSM fighters were built around the body of an F-22 mainly because of the stability of the design. “Amy, take the far left wingpair, I’ve got the far right, even if you just get one it’ll be ok. Meet me on the far side. Got it?” “Roge, that Matt.” She broke for the far left and started firing; I went for the right and opened up on the enemy. Phsssuuuu… Phsssuuuu…! Boom! I got one! We reformed on the other side just as the enemy was taking a long turn to pull in behind us. It was then that I saw a giant explosion rip through the command ship and half of the lights flicker out showing a massive power failure that would pretty well disable it. “Amy we’ve gotta help the flagship.” “Matt we do have orders….” “In a real battle that’s our ride home, if we lose it, we’re dead.” “Fine (sigh) we’ll help the flagship. But let’s lose these goons first!” I smiled. “Now you’re talking my language. Kick stop, just like we’ve been practicing, ok?” “On your mark Matt!” The enemy had completed their long turn to get back to us and had reformed their wing pairs; they were now turboing toward us as fast as their fighter’s could go. “Now Amy!” “Right!” We pulled back on the stick as far as we could go while simultaneously hitting the brakes as hard as we could. We smacked the turbo’s and were rocketing down their scoops so fast that they would never knew what hit them. They tried to bank but they were way to slow. Phhsssuuu… Phhsssuuu…! Boom! We flew through the explosion, which rattled our fighters up pretty well. We then banked hard right to line up with the flagship. The flagship was putting up a good fight and had wiped out half of the enemy squad attacking it. Nevertheless, as I watched, the last three guns were blown out of existence.

“Matt, the flagships toast!” Called out Amy. “Fine,” I answered. “Then lets take out the scavengers!” “Sure thing.” I could just see her smiling face when she said that. We vectored in on one of the three wing pairs that were diving in to finish off the Flagship. “Fire at will!” I called out. “Yahooo!” She yelled in a very un-Amy like way. We opened up on the first wing pair then dived around their disintegrating ships and vaped the second wing pair. The third broke off and circled around the flagship’s bridge with its tainted, see-through, and reinforced blue plastic. “Hold your fire! Or we’ll hit the bridge!” I warned. Amy complied and we broke right to dodge the bridge. We then dived down along the side of the curved command section of the ship. We dived under the belly and skimmed the bottom which lead out to the engine pods where the hyperdrive unites were housed, which in a real battle would get us home when this was over. On the Large Class Flagship, there are six; now though only two appeared to be even salvageable. “Do you see them Matt?” I looked around for a second and then consulted the scanner. “Nah, the debris make it impossible to get a good scan.” I continued to look around. “Matt! Brake left!” I immediately dived left as two shoots blew right by me. Followed closely by two enemy fighters and then Amy. I pulled in behind Amy as she lined up for a shot. Phhsssuuu… Phhsssuuu…! Boom! She got one but the other went evasive with a hard right turn. I matched as best as I could then opened fire on him. Of the three shots I took, only one grazed him. However, that slowed him down enough for Amy’s shot. Boom! “Yeah! I got em!” She called out. I smiled. “Go Amy your rock!” I then glanced down and went cold. “Amy, check your monitor.” “ Ah, oh.” “Yep” I replied. Our entire squad had been destroyed and the enemy still had a squad left albeit slightly scattered. I was racking my brains for a plan while they were regrouping. “Matt, what do we do?” asked Amy in a slight panic. I sighed then looked down in despair. It was then that I saw a screen with six blips arrayed around a representation of my fighter. Missiles were never used against other fighters in space combat; they just couldn’t track that well out of atmosphere, which is why they were used against Cap. Ships. But… they wouldn’t be expecting them… mabye… “Amy! I got a plan!” “Good cause they’re coming this way.” She sounded slightly scared. I smirked. “Amy, switch to missiles.” “What!?!” she said with obvious confusion. “Just do it Amy, we’re outta time.” She sighed. “Fine, switching to missiles.” She said. I glanced down at the very compact fighter squad and smiled. I switched to missiles and locked up a fighter just right of the center. “Amy. Lock up on a fighter just to the left of the center then fire on three.” “Ok.” “Ready?” “Yep.” “Three, two one… FIRE!” We launched our missiles and I leaned foreword to watch the fun. The enemy had come to about 200 m. of us when we launched. It was as if they couldn’t believe what they were seeing. They reacted way to slow. Of the twelve men squad that came in only six were left. “Switch back to lasers Amy and take it to them!” “Right.” She said with renewed determination. She dove to the right and I dove to the left. I switched to lasers and opened up on one of the fighters. Boom! My ship was buffered by the shockwave and I could feel it because of the simulators full range of motion. I formed back up with Amy on the other side of the remaining enemy. They still had a full flight of fighters left. “Got any more great plans Matt?” Amy asked as they swept in behind us and began to fire. “Umm…. Dodge?” She sighed as we dove straight downward. Then the screen went black and the canopy opened. “What… what happened?” I asked surprised “Your dead Matt.” Said Mike, “here.” He reached out his hand and helped me out of the cockpit.

“What happened to you?” “Well we went straight for the enemy and got blasted. Darien and Chris did a little better. But you and Amy were great!” “Thanks Mike.” “Sure thing bud, come on.” We walked over to help Amy out of her cockpit. She was a little shaken up. “I hate dying in those things.” Amy shuddered. Sarena wandered over from the holoprojector with a giant smile on her face. “ I don’t know.” She said mocking me, “dodge!” “Ha…Ha…Ha, Sarena.” She smiled again. After that came two hours of PT. Kinda like a hyped up version of gym class. Lots of running, weight lifting, running, push-up’s, running, games to test your reflexes, and did I mention running? By the time we left the training room it was 2000 hours and we were all exhausted, well… most of us were. “All right,” said Amy as she met up with us outside of the locker room. “It’s 2000 hours which means we have two hours of study group before light’s out.” “But…but…but,” Stared Serena looking to each of us for support in a voice that was almost begging. “Come on Sarena, just cause we don’t have full time classes anymore doesn’t mean we should let our brains rot. Of course that would require that you actually had a brain….” I trailed off. Sarena turned on me with her hands raised as if she was about to tear me limb from limb the only thing that saved me was Chris’ timely comment. “I agree with Matt.” Said Chris. “You mean you don’t think she has a brain either?” Said Mike with a big smile on his face. “No that’s not what I mean.” Said Chris in a slightly exasperated voice. “I mean we should go study.” “Matt just said that because he likes Amy!” Yelled Sarena. All the cadets in the hallway stopped what they were doing and turned to look at us while the instructors just kept walking, ignoring her outburst. I looked around quickly at my fellow cadets and started to blush. “I agree with Chris and Amy.” Said Darien, “Come on Sarena.” “Sure Darien, anything you say. But I promise to complain the whole time.” She said while starting goo-goo eyed at Darien. “And she says I’m the one crazy with love.” I muttered, and Mike, who overheard me, started laughing. “What was that Matt!?!” Sarena was yelling again. A crowd of cadets was slowly gathering around us enthralled with our argument. “*Cough* Ah nothing Sarena, nothing at all.” I did my best innocent face while Mike laughed so hard that he collapsed with tears in his eyes while some of the nearby guys started laughing as well. The girls in the crowed were rolling their eyes showing their appreciation of Mike’s maturity. Sarena now infuriated kicked Mike yelling. “Come on now, it wasn’t that funny!” At this, I started laughing. “Arrgh! Men!” Sarena yelled and pushed her way through the crowd and walked down the hallway with Amy right behind her, Darien followed them shacking his head as he walked with a big smile on his face. “Come on your two,” Chris said helping us up, “Let’s catch up to the others.” With Chris’ help, we somehow made it to Amy’s room without further incident. “Come on you three we’re already wasted fifteen minutes!” Amy said angrily. “Oh is that it, I’ll come back later than.” Said Mike with a smile. That almost started me going again, but a look from Chris stopped me and a look from Amy got Mike to settle down. “Ok now let’s get to work.” Said Amy. One hour of torture later, Sarena was asleep and nothing Darien did would wake her up. Amy was lecturing. (I think I had to do with Planets or something. I truly have no idea what) Chris was listening apparently taking it all in, while Mike was reading a comic book behind his science textbook. Lastly, I was sleeping with my eyes open. It was then Amy paused her lecture for a second and looked over at Mike. “Umm… Mike? We stopped studying science a half hour ago.” Mike did some quick thinking. “Ummm… well… you see I was… ah… studying ahead.” “Oh great then you can do the science lecture tomorrow.” Mike looked like his heart had stopped and a minute later Mike was banging his head against the desk whispering. “Stupid, stupid, stupid.” I smirked.

Well since I'm no longer grounded I could continue my stories, but only if people ask me too. I'm too busy with college Apps to work on my writing unless I have a sure audience.
