WARNING: This could ruin your views of Christmas. If you still enjoy them and don't share the more pessimistic, lost hope view of it, DO NOT READ THE BELOW WRITING. .... Unless you'd rather just lose that. And if you would, you are strange.
So, if you're someone who still enjoys their holidays, go on about your business.
Upon seeing a few Christmas threads, and my one getting me gifts, my mood has gotten itself to do something.
That something would be to write. What it is I'm writing, I've no idea of, but we shall soon find out, won't we?
Christmas. X-mas. Kwanzaa. Han...um....yeah. That Jewish holiday in the wintery season that lasts 8 days.
It seems to me that people, around this time of year, get up just enough energy to be good and kind to most of those around them. They want to appear good so that they might just get on someone's happy side and recieve something.
I don't think this is right, or fair. People shouldn't just force themselves to be happy because the year is coming to a close. The populace should stick to themselves, and if they wish to put on a more joyous front- make it truthful.
Now, I'm not saying something about the December month doesn't make a person happy.. but it just seems like a big put on to me.
What happened to the Christmases of my childhood? Everything seemed so happy, I was so carefree, and television shows only amplified my feelings. Now, though... It doesn't seem like people are truly happy anymore. Not where I am, anyway. I think it would come as a big relief to my parents to just stop it; and, rightfully so, as we are short on money since my dad's arm was hurt from work. (He hasn't gotten a check since the beginning of October.) It seems as though people are doing it just to spend money and recieve gifts, as though they don't care, and just want to do it because they know no other way. It's like...*Thinks of how I could put it into words*...they're doing it just because.
The holiday has lost its meaning.
And y'know... It's like this for most other holidays. Halloween has lost its luster as the years have gone on, due to sickos who like kidnapping children and poisoning candy. Parents can't trust their neighbors enough to let their kids go get some treats, something that shouldn't even be a question.
Even my own birthday is something that I've lost excitement for.
I don't think I'm going to continue this much more....but it would be interesting to see if anyone else is going through this.
BHS- Boring Holiday Syndrome xD
