Hi! One of my close friends has a Chii obitsu doll up on ebay. I figured since there are alot of anime fans here i thought i'd let you guys know a little more about it and about obitsus while i'm at it. Obitsus are lovely little japanese dolls. They come in two scales - fashion scale (27/23 cm or about the size of barbies) and 60cm (the same size as the popular asian ball jointed dolls). They come blank - so you can customize them anyway you wish. If you want more detailed information you can visit www.junkyspot.com and check it out. They are also the cheapest retailer of obitsus in the US. This is the Chii auction - note this is not my work but work of one of my friends! cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=016&item=260007951884&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1I figure i'll elaborate more on this thread later. :3

Hi Des Dollfie has come to be the generic term for Japanese ball-jointed dolls. Super Dollfies are actually made by a company called Volks (www.volksusa.com) and are made of resin while obitsus are made of vinyl plastic. The major difference between resin and vinyl dolls is the posability. Resin dolls are very heavy and have no internal skeleton - they are strung with string so it limits how poseable they are. Resin dolls are often "kicky" - as in they are strung too tight by the factory and you have to take them apart and restring them a little. Vinyl dolls (i believe Obitsu are the only ones that make them) have an internal skeleton and are NOT strung with string. They are lighter and thus have more posability. Vinyl dolls also tend to be more durable and are alot less heavy - and alot cheaper. In alot of asian balljointed doll (ABJD) communities they are pretty snobby about resin dolls. Resin dolls are alot more expensive ($500-$6000) so they consider obitsu the "cheap" alternative when that's simply not true. I dont' know about you but laying down about $300 for a doll is pretty damn expensive for me.
