One of the directors at my work is a bit... odd... I dunno. He's not very "nice". I don't have to deal with him too much but he makes me feel uncomfortable.

*shrugs* At EACH of my jobs I've had a boss/manager/person on a higher rank than me who makes me feel slightly uncomfortable, but I figure that's just part of the job and I'm gonna have to deal with it one way or another. And as long as they don't give me a reason to REALLY feel uncomfortable, I'll just pretend all's well.

Hmm yeah... thing is I'm not the only one who feels that way...
He's not a great 'people person' - weird seeing as he's the one who gets in the new clients, LOL!
Oooh well...

Thanks! I'll try to get some photos of mine soon so that everyone can see them <3 I mostly do the 27cm ones. The 60 cm ones are SOOOO Expensive (400 -600 dollars). You're welcome ;D. I would love to see what you come up w/. Those anime dolls are really cute, but some of them are like scarey in how real they look .

I'm currently jobless (because I transferred to a new university), so I'm going to complain about it.
I'm just one of those people that actually LOVE to work. I try to apply at jobs that fit with my personality & that I would love to do; my philosophy? If you pick a job you're going to hate, you'll wind up changing jobs more often than you need to; stick with a job that you know you'll love, so you want to go to work. That's what I'm doing so far & it doesn't seem to be working out too well.
I'm actually set up with a temp agency for some clerical, data entry type work & they got my hopes up of finding a job, then neglected to tell me they had to replace me with someone else because I would be outta town for ONE WEEK in June. If that isn't discrimination...Ooh it makes me mad.
People out there: I'm learning a hard lesson about what it means to barely have enough money to pay your bills & such, and lemme tell you, it's NOT fun to be stressing over it. Nor is it fun to have to tell friends, "Yeah, I can't go because I'm flat broke." As you can probably tell, I'm really freaking about this; I've been working since I since a week after I turned 16 & not having a job to fall back on is a VERY scary situation.

Welcome to the real world honey. You are going to have to take jobs you don't like one way or another. I tried that route for a long time and I ended up working in food service because unfortunately you HAVE to have money to pay your bills. If you're living on your own you will have to take what you can get. If i wouldn't have worked in food service I wouldn't have survived on my own. Luckily now I'm married and even though we still have to stress out about money sometimes we're relatively secure. P.S. Temp agencies get you no where - trust me. Whatever you get at a temp agency isn't going to be long-term AND they take a cut of your wages. Not my idea of a good time. Good luck finding something.

I think so too, but unfortunately it is not so easily achievable. I didn't technically 'pick' my current job either, it was offered to me - which leads to my feeling that in order to get a job it's not what you know, it's who you know.

It depends on the job and the employer. I never had training to be in payroll - the job was offered to me because I was in the right place at the right time, and my b/f's dad is part owner of the company *shrug* My b/f got 3 of his jobs through people he knew. (friend in college; his mum; and now his dad) I dunno. I've just become very cynical and jaded about the whole "finding a job" process. People say there are plenty of jobs out there - yeah, there are, but they're not something that I want to do (or have qualifications for)! I've had 2 years being in a job I'm growing to hate more and more - I don't want to end up completely miserable, heh! These days, employers want 16 year olds with crap loads of experience so they don't have to train them and don't have to pay them full adult wages Then when they get older, their hours go down - it's happened to people I know. LOL Now I'm just getting into bitchy rant mode, but I can't help it. I'm not in a great mood

LOL Now I'm just getting into bitchy rant mode, but I can't help it. I'm not in a great mood Yeah, I don't get the whole hiring only those with experience. My thing is, how can people gain any when they can't even get a job for what they want the experience for? I've looked on monster.com for several positions & they all require like 2 years of work related experience. Companies that are looking for help require too much; they should be willing to provide in-depth job training regardless of the amount of experience someone has.
On another note, I have an interview tomorrow at a nearby bowling alley (one of my fave sports) to work in the concession area (at least, I think that's what they want to hire me for). Before I posted my last post in this thread, I had actually applied at Victoria's Secret, another movie theater & the bowling alley. Secondary choices, but summarizing what Yaten said: beggars can't be choosers (leastwise, what I got out of it).

Good luck with the interview I wonder if I should send an application to a cinema myself, I used to work in one years ago - although the hours probably wouldn't be all that great, late nights, holidays, heh! I want to be a bit picky in my choices now, that's the thing. Part of the problem I'm having now is that I can't relate to my job on a personal level, so I can't stand being there. It's putting strain on my mental health and wellbeing and I deem that to be more important than money - however, the big thing now is that I'm moving out - so I bloody need more of the damn stuff And of course my job is slightly up in the air now, with casual positions being taken out of the equation - I've had to re-apply for my old job, basically, only as a part time position. A full time one was available too but I know in my heart and mind that I just couldn't handle it. Meanwhile... Exactly! There's only one thing that matters to employers nowadays - and that's money. The less they have to pay their employees, the better. The less they have to spend on training programmes, etc..., the better. Hence "mature age" people aren't always looked at when positions are available. Either that, or they're hired and given the minimal hours possible. It's just not fair. I think I need to start my own business

Jobs, eh? Technically, I did sorta have a job awhile back... Let's see here, oh yea, I worked in the back of my dad's Pizza Hut store he managed before it opened. I did a bunch of odd things, like open packages, make sandwiches and such. In the end, I got around 20 bucks a day for it. I wasn't allowed to work when it opened though... However, it ended rather badly with my mother finding out, explaining child labor laws to me and such, and not letting me do it anymore... I don't know why, I mean, I only ogt injured once.... course... I did slice my finger open, but I don't even know how that happened..
I think I'm pretty much set for jobs in the future, though, considering there's not much I don't enjoy...

I do have a sort of mini-business. It's fun as long as it's something you enjoy and if you can be assertive. If you're not assertive or willing to put your foot down don't even THINK about starting your own business. Business owners, especially female ones, need to be the Queen Bitch. Otherwise people try to trample over you and take your natural good-naturedness for granted. Now of course.. I have no natural good-naturedness. Therefore I think it's going to be hard for clients to pull a fast one on me Because I am the epitome of the "Queen Bitch".
