May I give a little constructive critisism? I found it a bit boring. Try to jazz it up a bit by giving it some colour. The message boards look nice though.

I just completely re-did my site to make it with the colours it is now. Prior to that it was bright pink and white so I wanted a darker feel this time. That's all. Thanks for the critiques though, it's always good to hear what other people think.

Just on the colours, I quite like the scheme myself, however the navigation and text gets a little lost because it doesn't stand out against the background, so maybe in the background behind the links themselves, and the text window, you could put a bit of an opacity, just so they stand out more, but other than that, I think the layout works very well Did you use Macromedia Flash to create it?

I was thinking about making the nav use rollovers to help with it standing out a bit more, I think that might help. But I haven't had a lot of time to work on it as of late. As for the body text, I did originally have the background a more washed out colour, but it didn't look right And no, I didn't use flash at all. I wanted to, but I wouldn't have been able to do it in the same time frame. This is just a lot of photoshop and a lot of HTML/CSS ;D

Aah ok, cool ;D I had to work with Flash at college, actionscripting, aiee! But yeah... Maybe behind the text part you could put some white in front of the background but give it an opacity of say... 25% maybe... I had a go at it myself a little bit, hope you don't mind... this is what I played around with as best I could:

I worked with flash in college, but not a whole lot. We spent longer working in director, which is lame. I do like the white opacity idea and I originally had it like that, but when I was doing it, I only made the background part of the iframe a lighter colour, so it didn't fill up the entire frame... and I was too lazy to go back and edit the main graphic, lol. That is a very good idea though and i do like the way it turned out in your demo. Good stuff. I might give that a try. Unfortunately I probably won't get to work on my site much over the next month or two, which sucks. But I'm currently working 2 jobs and it's taking up all my spare time. I'm jotting down ideas though and that'll definitely be one of them. Thanks!

That's cool, I totally understand. When I was in college I had hardly any time for my sites either All I did for the test I did of your layout was take a screenshot of it, take it into Photoshop, then filled the area behind the text white and did an opacity of about 25%... if you have the original PSD files it will be a lot easier for you I gather you used layers? That'll make things even more easier to fix up

Yup, it's all in layers. Should be no problem to touch up.

Cool ;D Well take your time with it, there's no rush, especially when you're busy with other stuff, but if you do modify it I look forward to seeing it
