When was it rated 13 and up? Do you mean that was the rating on the uncut DVDs that have been released in the USA? If so, I wasn't talking about equivalent of the rating in the west. In Japan it was rated for girls aged 4 to 12. The anime Sailor Moon wasn't for teenage girls in Japan, and I don't understand why you brought up the manga since we were talking about the DIC dub and the ratings concerning the anime... Because we were talking about who sailor moon was intended for. And yes, I'm talking about the Japanese set. The set that I got from Japan is rated 13+. Sailor Moon was NOT intended for little girls no matter how much you think it was. Next I suppose you'll be telling me that Fushigi Yugi or ah megamisama were also intended for young girls.

No, it really wasn't intended for teenagers and for people older^^; I see we probably won't be able to resolve this anytime soon, so I'll leave it, but I know it was aimed at very young girls as a fact. There's nothing wrong with older people liking it, but the intended audience was very young girls like I've already stated. Once again, I've never seen Fushigi Yugi or Megamisama so I can't judge since I don't know a thing about them. Anyway, I've had enough. This isn't going to get anywhere since we can't agree.

I'm going to have to throw in a random argument here, sorriz if I blew the peace.
In the US, Sailor Moon was focused on girls from any age group (or whatever rating it has). In Japan, we have an undefined age group (since there's a discussion on it by you two).
Now, let's take into account that Sailor Moon exists of five sagas (let's NOT get into the discussion about a saga being X amount of episodes or X amount of weeks or anything), SM, SMR, SMS, SMSS and SMStars. However, in the US, the fifth saga, SMStars was never aired. Dubbing companies didn't even bother trying to dub it. Why? Because they found the features, especially the Three Lights and their alter egos, not suited for their target group: young girls of any age.
I know the US and Japan are two separate worlds, but I don't think the difference in US and Japan standards for showing what's on air for the same age group would cause Stars to be aired in Japan and not in the US.
I think it's safe to say that the Stars saga is therefor focused on a 13+ age group, and, as all five sagas are created as one series, I think it's safe to say that the series (all of it) is focused on the same age group initially.
That's the way I see it. As with many other things, it might differ from someone elses way to see things.

If Sailor Moon had been intended for kids it would have appeared in a kodomo manga rather than a shoujo manga. -.-

I was lookin up more stuff about this when i stumbled upon this interview about Saban and sailor moon. Its pretty funny. www.animefringe.com/magazine/01.06/feature/2/index.php3I just dont understand why someone would take a great show like Sailor Moon and try to reck it like Saban did.I mean, they made Luna a white cat, one of the Scouts is in a wheelchair, gosh, Sailor Marsor Jupiter is black, Im so used to all the scouts being white, I know there Japanese, but you should know what i mean, they got rid of Serena's (Usagi's) long pretty hair, they sail around in space on little moon boats, LOL, thats way too funny He sais that he thinks Saban version was better, Sailor Moon was never as popular as Power Rangers ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) , and Bandai has rights to live action Sailor Moon I also found this: blackmercury.tripod.com/lsmw/main.htm very funny site about Saban's Sailor Moon

kay, my two cents! the saban version SUCKED WORSE, it was like a whore did the fusion dance with a vaccum and out came the saban version as a big fat monkey turd!! and mutilating the series to that kinda level is the absolute WORST idea EVER!!!! I'm not watching it because if I do, I may die of a sudden sickness. and I just got over the lousy job Dic did with SM, AND the even lousier job Saban did with DBZ... if I barf now it will be because of the terrible dubbing and horrible acting! you can burn the sites creator here at his email address, he'll put it in hate mail, but he'll get the point if you sound like a threatening mobster, yakuza, or even a well paid assassin of any kind. I know this jackass doesnt deserve a peice of anyones mind as he's too stupid, but I think he should be burned. vmalloc@usinternet.com

www.sweetusagi.com/mink/naka.htmSeems the both of you were right. Nakayoshi is not teenagers and older but its not for little little kids either. It seems the target age is PRETEEN which is 8-13. But, as the article says, people up to 30 read Nakayoshi. *Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon was run in Nakayoshi. Run-Run which is about the same as Nakayoshi ran Codename Wa Sailor V. It doesn't matter though! Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon is great for anybody!

HA omg I remember when I saw the Saban Moon trailer. I didn't laugh at all. I was HORRIFIED actually! I sat there in shock saying "they were actually gonna do this?!". Omg...hahas though now that I look back on it, it was a really funny thing to watch.
The people were stuck in the 80s...XD...everyone looked like they were pulled out of an old 80s movie or something. Though, I'm a 90s kid...hm

Sorry Zyppora! XD I didn't realize I double posted. I don't usually like double posting either.
Anyway
I still think, personally, I owe some kind of respect towards DiC. They introduced the Sailor Moon/Anime world to me and I could not get over it since. I don't believe that without DiC I could have entered this wonderful (delusional ;D) world ^_^
