How did you discover Sailor Moon? What brought you into Naoko Takeuchi's wonderful world of Sailor Moon?
Mine is an interesting story that dates back to when I was in the 8th grade, that's 8 years ago back in 1996, I met a friend named WiL . . . he is the smartest person I have ever met . . . He's an absolute genius, being an excellent composer, computer programer, linguist. . er. . well I digress. . .
It was fifth period, an English class being taught by Mrs. Schlendorf, a teacher I liked enough to remember her name. I was sitting in my desk on the first day of 8th grade, when a note gets slid under my nose. I looked down at it and it had a picture of a line and two stick figures on it. Above one figure was the word "Me" and above the other was the word "You". As trhe note was slid onto my desk the boy sitting next to me said "I'll let you go first." I studied the paper for a few minutes before I turned my gaze back to him with a puzzled look. He took the picture back and said "Okay, I'll go first then. The idea is to try and beat your opponent, either by killing them or knocking them out." He quickly scribbled something onto the paper and handed it back to me. Now there was a bunch of swirls next to the 'Me' figure with the words 'Psychotic Little Elves' and an arrow pointing from the new words to the swirls. I drew onto the paper a line down the middle of the PLE and rew an acr that reached from one edge of the PLE, arced over the line, touching it, and down to the other side of the PLE. I then added the word 'jam' to the end of the word 'Elves'. This became a game that I would play with him quite frequently, and I'd develop my characters through this game passing through many different ones. One day I was using a character I called "Intercontenental Balistic Man" or ICBM(Ick-boom) for short, and WiL drew 10 stick figures in skirts, one was shorter than the others and each had a unique 'hair' style. I fought them valiantly, and when I had them backed into a corner. . he teleported them out. I liked the characters he used so much I asked if I could use them, and he told me that they weren't his, and when I asked about them, he told me about the Sailor Senshi, "Well, actually they're called Sailor Scouts over here in the states for some reason, although the Word Senshi is japanese and means something more like soldier, or guardian."
Well, this sparked my curiosity and I investigated these "Sailor Senshi". I found some . . .*ahem* rather interesting pictures of the Sailor Senshi on yahoo, attatched to profiles of them. On hearing the names of them I thought Sailor Mars was the one I was going to become attatched to since my favorite planet is Mars, my name and initials are both close to Mars, I was born in March and was an Aries (Whose Roman counter part was Mars). Back then I was majorly, majorly into mythology. But after I saw Mercury I saw that she was Blue, that is my favorite color so I decided to look into her more. . . And we matched on so many levels that she instantly became my favorite, and has been ever since. Thanks to WiL I was able to see Sailor Moon in Japanese, there were no subtitles on it at the time, so I decided to take Japanese so I could learn more about Sailor Moon. Later on when I met another friend, he hooked me up with some subtitled episodes that ran up into the beginign of stars. . . and this was back when Sailor Moon was only released up to the fight with Reubius in the US. I had never been able to catch an episode of the Dub due to scheduling conflicts. . . But I learned later that it's illegal to own the subtitled anime that has been released over here, So I went out and started buying the dub. . . I was so shocked when I finally saw it. I was really confused at first as to why it was so different. . .
Anyway, long story short, I would still be a moonatic without DiC having dubbed it over. So I owe no aligence to them.
What about you? What's your story?

Ok, well, I am a " dub " person, so... LOL! Seriously though... I was just flipping through channels one day when I came across the show, it was the one where time is being sped up and people who have been affected are rushing around like nutters - Serena (Usagi) had been affected and Amy/Ami and Luna were concerned... Buuut anyway I noticed Ami first of all, because she seemed the less irritating out of the two Scouts who were involved in this particular episode (Moon and Mercury), and that's how she became my favourite character. I'm not sure what really made me like the show itself, it just seemed sort of funny and intriguing to me, I guess... Oh then again I like the whole "girl power" thing, so I guess that helped I've only ever seen the dubbed versions of the show, I can't afford to buy the originals from overseas nor can I be bothered downloading them from the net, so... I guess until a possible huge DVD release in Australia featuring uncut versions comes along, I'll be doomed to be a " dubbie "

Well to be honest mines a little depressing to remember. I was kinda a pitiful fool back then...but hey we live and learn.
(Great idea by the way Creshosk)
The first time I saw Sailor Moon was back when I was in 6th Grade. My brothers and I used to stay up all night in the bassment on weekends. I miss thoes days....anyway...one night there was a anime marathon on some random channel, I don't even remember anymore and one of the shows was Sailor Moon, the episode they showed was the first episode that Mina showed up in. I was intreged but didn't really care much. The other episode was the 1st episode and I'm glad today that I saw that cause I have yet to see it again in almost 7 years.
So anyway 2 years pass and my family moves AGAIN to St. Louis this time. This was our 8th move. I had zero friends and it was halfway through 8th grade. I lived off of books. I would read two Novels a day. Not kiddie Novels either but 400+ Pages. I read through every book I owned twice which took about 4 months but I was still bored. 8th grade ended with me finaly making a friend on literaly the last day at school. (It was at the graduation party) It was over that Summer when I first discovered Toonami. Gundam Wing, Dragon Ball Z, and of course Sailor Moon.
When I started watching Sailor Moon one day I very literaly and yes probably mentaly sickly, fell in love with Sailor Mercury. She was my dream girl, Beautiful, Smart, Modest, kind... everything I could ever want...but there was a problem...she was an anime charactor...I was a human being...
Problem
Therefore I created Moon Knight. I representation of myself that I would insert into the Sailor Moon storyline. Let me take a second to try to explain that:
I would watch an episode of Sailor Moon than go off by myself, lay down and think through in my head how the storyline would change. I already had a very powerful imagination and this daily practice only helped it grow. I could literaly see Moon Knight with her in my mind.
During the day I would go to school but when I got home (Literaly sprinting the whole way because the show started 4 minutes after school let out and I was a walker) The walk normaly took 15 minutes with a 40 lbs. backpack (I never used a locker in 4 years of High School) I made it from the 2nd floor of my school to my house in a little less than 8.
This is the beginning of a very long story involving Sailor Moon that I'm not going to get into right now. Maybe tomarrow if you guys want to hear it. Pretty much I go totaly crazy literaly crazy at one point becuase of anime, but yet anime on the other side rehabilitates me....long story...and I have no problem telling it if you ask, but not tonight.

I don't know when it was exactly that I first touched the beauty of anime, but I know it was Sailor Moon. I'll get to that explanation in a moment. Until awhile ago, I thought the very first anime I ever saw was Pokemon. Some weirdo at school was a happy fan of everything anime related, even though he was the only one in my class back in the days that probably even heard of the term 'anime'. He even brought a little Pikachu (Katakana for 'picture'??) to school. After a few weeks, the Pokemon episodes were aired. This all happened when I was in ... 4th year of high school? 1998 or 1999 I guess. Not sure. It didn't take long for Dragonball Z to follow the Pokemon hype and become an even greater success. I must admit that each time I saw a new episode (I fell in love with it, never seen anything like it), I did the same thing Hawk did: watch the episode and afterwards start making up characters, representing yours truly, and have them save the day, or at least place them somewhere in the storyline. At some point, browsing the many DBZ fansites out there, I found out that on many of those 'You know you're addicted to DBZ when ...' lists, I made a pretty high score ... too high. At some point I decided to put my knowledge to good use and built a DBZ fansite myself (another story, for another time). Anywayz, not too long ago (at most 3 years), I was flippin through the tv magazine and learned that Sailor Moon was aired every sunday at 7am (worst possible time, weekends are for sleeping in). Well, I did what every other anime addicted would do: set the alarm clock. When I saw the first episode of it that I ever saw (which wasn't episode 1, mind you. Most probably it was episode 8, where Mizuno Ami (<3) makes her debute), it stirred something inside me. It felt like I'd seen it before, perhaps in a time long forgotten. That's how I'm convinced I saw it before I saw any other anime. Note: the episodes I saw were all dubbed ... in Dutch. Now, having my own computer with an internet connection, this opens new perspectives. I have spent at least several hundreds of hours so far using google to find myself Sailor Moon sites (and images). Now, we all know what google returns when we search for 'Sailor Moon', and the greater half of the images was indeed 18+. But I didn't care > I liked those images (remember, it was in the period when I didn't have a gf yet and my hormones were overflowing). Now, I know better. I'm looking at Sailor Moon in a whole new perspective and I'm actually glad I got the chance to get to know such a great anime. Of course, noone knows about my little addiction to SM here ^^;; I must say that if you ever get the chance to see a Dutch episode, whether you speak Dutch or not, you should REALLY listen to the opening theme. It ROOLZ.

I don't exactly remember when I first got into Sailor Moon. But I was REAL young, and didn't even know what anime was. I was probally about three. I don't remember the first episode I saw. In fact, I don't even remember if it was an episode at all. I was so young and dumb that I thought Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus were the same people, 'cause of their hair. I always thought Sailor Moon was a princess, even before I found out!

It was New Year's Eve and my mum went out so me and my sis were sitting, watchin T.V after watchin two movies we reanted. My sis was flicking through the channels and came across Sailor Moon but it was only a glace. From what I saw it looked like Serena was getting a telling off from a old granny(her grandma maybe) and she had Luna in her arms. Anyways After that my cousin told me about Manga and Anime and I got into it too. And I came across afew pics of SM when I was searching for Anime pics. Then it just carryed on from there really.......
Oh yeah and I have seen some episode on the net and for my birthday I'am gonna get a SM DVD(not sure which season coz my mum ordered it off the net and she says she doesn't know)with 7 discs in! I can't wait to get it! My birthday is on November 23th

Well actually, believe it or not, I had no interest in Sailor Moon whatsoever when I started getting getting into Anime. My first ever Anime was Cardcaptors, and then eventually I started getting into the original series. After I bought the entire series, I decided I wanted to try something new. I love creating Desktop Wallpaper, and I wanted to try making something other than Cardcaptor Sakura wallpaper for a change, and then one day, I noticed the SM artwork. It wasn't long before I started visiting sites, and finding out more about the Senshi, as well as the show. I got more and more interested. When I first came to Australia, they were playing the English version of Sailor Moon, episode 1, on normal TV. I couldn't watch all episodes, because it was on too late, by the time I had to get to school. It's just as well as I didn't start watching the English version, because then I would have got too used to it, and not the original Japanese series. I decided, that after watching the changes between Cardcaptors and Cardcaptor Sakura, I wanted to just stick to watching the original version of Sailor Moon, because the original is always the best. I first began watching downloaded episodes, of the Sailor Stars season, but it got annoying after a while, when the site would shut down after I was so very nearly finished with downloading the episodes, or none of the links would work. So, I decided I wanted to buy it myself. Finally, 2 weeks before my birthday this year, I found a copy of Sailor Stars on the internet, at www.ebay.com.au, for a cheap price. I hinted to my dad that I would like that for my birthday, and now, I am pleased to say that I am a proud owner of Sailor Stars. I'm not sure exactly why I decided to start watching SM, but I think it was the artwork that first got me into it.

When I discovered Sailor Moon, I was already into other anime and I visited sites like the Anime Web Turnpike. Usually when I clicked on links that led to general anime sites, I'd see these cute little animated gifs and icons of girl wearing a sailor suit and performing very "pretty" attacks. I ignored them for a while and continued surfing for info on X/1999 and other stuff by CLAMP (I'm a big CLAMP fan). Sooner or later, my curiosity got the better of me and I clicked on one of the little gifs and I was taken to a page about Sailor Moon. I saw a picture of Sailor Pluto in her final form and thought she was really pretty. I browsed through the site and after I'd read the storyline, I realised that I liked the sound of Sailor Moon. After that, I started to download clips of attacks and transformations. I loved them so much and became hooked. Shortly after that, I was begging my parents for Sailor Moon merchandise and episodes! XD

This is mine altogether. You know what? Could I have everyone's permission in here to post these on my site? I think I want to start a new "How Sailor Moon Came Into My Life" section.

Well, I can't exactly remember what grade I was in, probably still in Primary School... or was it the first year of Secondary School? Anyway, I was really sick with a really life-threatning fever..
*I managed to survive, don't worry, peoplez I'm not a ghost!! *
Anyway, I had a fever and I was lying on my cousin's couch * the one (unfortnatley) with the cancer* (I was in Adelaide at the time). My cousins son who's the same age as I am, was with me. I was a typical sick person, with the blanket, a thermometre in my mouth and the cold face washer on my forehead. Unfortnautley their TV was broken, so we had nothing to do.
You may wonder, then, how did you find out about Sailor Moon! OR "Get to the Point, girl!
Well, we started playing a game. Cuz pretended to be a super hero. I pretended to be a super heroine. He said his name was Tuxedo Mask. I had no idea where he came up with the name, but I bought that he made it up himself. He said that I should be someone called Sailor Moon. So, I was. He then got a bear from his sister's room * If she found out, he would have been beheaded a thousand times * He said the bear was someone called Queen Beryl. Where did he get these names from?!
Anyway, he starting throwing pencils at the bear yelling I am am Tuxedo Mask, Defender of the Innocent! It was hilarious! He threw the bear at me, knocking out the thermometre into my mouth making me choak. He saw this as a chance to save his beloved Sailor Moon.
After all that, I felt a bit better. Better enough to leave the couch and into his room. He showed me astack of pictures of five girls in mini skirts and a man in a black tuxedo. He told me that these were where he got the charcters from. He said that I shoudl be Sailor Mercury, because I reminded him of her. How sweet!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAnyway, that's how I found about Sailor Moon! Sailor Venus was my favoutite, because I loved her flirty style, but then I realised Sailor Mercury's element was water, my fav element, and also, blue is my fav colour.

We knew each other back in third grade and then she moved away and then moved back. But anyway her folder was plastered with Sailor Mecury (go figure). So I started out watching the dub until I discovered this card that someone had sent me that had these strange people on it, and that's how I discovered the Sailor StarLights and devoted my allowance and time into finding out who they were. That's my story, though Cresh I must say that yours warms my heart to an infinitesimal degree.

It was when I was about 7 or 8 and I was channel surfing and I spotted Sailor Moon. I fell in love with the show instantly. I used that show (as I do many other shows) as an escape. I would think of a character and insert that character into the story. If I couldn't fall asleep I would be thinking of how to insert the character in. Ohh the good old days. ;D
