I guess you can put it that way, but at least they dubbed it for us, right? If it weren't for them, Sailor Moon would be different. Also, DiC wasn't the only company who dubbed Sailor Moon that didn't do it right. They did do some things right, though. I think they were right, for once, changing Black Lady's name to Wicked Lady, ne?

If it weren't for them, Sailor Moon would be different. You mean accurate? Like if Pioneer had gotten ahold of it originally or ADV or Manga corps.? or any of the other GOOD dubbing companies out there? Yeah, what a shame that somebody couldn't do a good job on it. . .

Other than that, it just plain sucked.

I agree with Umi. I watched the dubs first, so I am thankful for them for some reason.

Don't complain! DIC did an awesome job of dubbing the first two series. Note, the DIC version is called an English "adaptation", not "translation". If I had my way, I would have got DIC to dub "S" and "Super S" because Cloverway did a terrible job. Even though they were pressed for time, I still think DIC's version was really good (if you had never seen the original). It was funny and all ages could watch it. I appreciate DIC dubbing the start of the series, coz I don't think I would have even known about it if they hadn't and that evil Toon company would have made it into a live-action rip off of Power Rangers... and then no one would wanna go near it DIC put a lot of work into their version of Sailor Moon. They made kool opening song, made new music to fit their more kid-ish version and had some totally awesome transitions (Cloverway's sucked). It also had great voice directing from Roland Parliament (voice of Melvin), and yeah... I'm gonna stop making fun of Cloverway now, just in case someone is a fan of their trash and yells at me, hehe

I'm going to be honest here and say how I feel about this:
The people who worked on the dub did this so they could have money to buy food and keep a roof over their heads. Some even did this so they could have money to support their families.
Also,I think the dub-bashing has gone way overboard..why can't people focus on the good points of the dubs instead of always focusing on the bad points?
If it hadn't of been for the dubs,I would've never become a Sailor Moon fan.

Well, they slapped 'Saban' on the promo vid, so imo it was Saban who would mess it up (then again, DiC and Cloverway did a pretty good job at that as well). I'm going to be honest here and say how I feel about this: The people who worked on the dub did this so they could have money to buy food and keep a roof over their heads. Some even did this so they could have money to support their families. Maybe the pplz who actually did the changing, but not their managers (who were the ones to decide on making the changes). They drive big cars and go to Hawaii on vacation 3 times a year. But yes, they take their families with them Also,I think the dub-bashing has gone way overboard..why can't people focus on the good points of the dubs instead of always focusing on the bad points? If it hadn't of been for the dubs,I would've never become a Sailor Moon fan. That's a quality vs. quantity argument.

To be honest if it wasn't for the dub, I wouldn't be a fan either so...
But the thing is I'd like to see the original versions, it's just a matter of time and money for me at the moment (because I'd much rather have the DVDs, not download the episodes on my laptop - but that's personal choice).

The only reason of the big changes was because of the rules of US Television! If Sailor Moon had of been dubbed in later years, what was allowed to be shown on TV was a lot more broad and there wouldn't have been so much cut out of it. I appreciate what DIC did, even if I don't like the end result of Cloverway's dub (it was rushed!). Anyways, maybe the people who decided to dub it (Andy Heyward as I recall), he probably wanted his children or other young children to be able to enjoy the series... thus, it was given a children's genre and then there was no more nakedness, blood, and silence... *pokes the writers for making up line for parts where there was no talking*
