I thought this would be an interesting topic, but after watching my favourite episodes and getting the chills from remembering my childhood I thought it would be a good idea to discuss our history with the one and only.

When was it that you saw your first episode of Sailor Moon? Where (if you can remember)?
Why were you drawn to it (if you were at the time)? If you weren't, why not?

When was it that you saw your first episode of Sailor Moon (with all the details don't skimp)? Where (if you can remember)? I remember I was five (1995) and it was in my babysitters basement. I remember it aired around 11:30ish and I would eat while I watched. Later as time went on I danced to the theme song and sang it with my best friend at the time, Kimberley and we would pretend to be the senshi. I would then go off to afternoon kindergarden. Good times when I was five and six.
Why were you drawn to it (if you were at the time)? If you weren't, why not? I was drawn to it, it was a fantasy and at the time, it was just something special and interesting. Space has always fascinated me and through the first season it was just amazing.
Did you first watch the dubs or the original Japanese? If you watched the original Japanese, have you ever experienced the awfulness of what is the dubs (vice-versa)? I watched the dubs first and I was extremely glad I did. For some reason that was part of my childhood, something I'm connected to, coming back to the Japanese after eight or nine years I could appreciate it. I still like to think though that I was able to watch the dubs, and I can sit here and know how awful they were.
And, who was your favourite character then? Who is your favourite now? I had favourite conflicts between Usagi and Venus. Some days it was one, other days it was the other. For the most part I think it was Usagi, because I remember going out for her at Hallowe'en one year. My favourite character now, although it's Usagi, is actually one form of her -- her past self on the Moon, Princess Serenity, who I was first introduced to as "Princess Serena" -- which is why my name remains as it does. That's what I remember and love, even though I now know otherwise.
Have you read the manga and when? Unfortunately know because I haven't found a store that sells them, I'll likely have to settle with eBay eventually, but I like the hunt.

When was it that you saw your first episode of Sailor Moon? Where (if you can remember)?
Hmmz, well, that I know of, it was a few years ago, when Dutch television aired it at the WORST POSSIBLE TIME (7am sunday morning. Sunday mornings are for sleeping in!). Anywayz, I faithfully set the alarm clock each saturday night and watched it the next morning. It was the Dutch dub (which, if I remember correctly, had young girls' voices, unlike the English dub). It was up in my bedroom, watching it on tv while still laying in bed.

Why were you drawn to it (if you were at the time)? If you weren't, why not?
I was drawn to it alright. I've had my share of DBZ, and got pretty much satiated with that. I wanted something else, but there was no way in hell I'd revert to the likes of Pokemon. Sailor Moon was only aired for a short length of time (maybe a few months), but it enlightened me. What drew me in would have to be what would draw any hormone-driven single teen boy: babes in short skirts. Heh, I've gained respect for them since.

Did you first watch the dubs or the original Japanese? If you watched the original Japanese, have you ever experienced the awfulness of what is the dubs (vice-versa)?
I first watched the Dutch dubs, as explained above, but after that, I started downloading the subs, so I'm all good. I saw some episodes of the English dub, and yes, the awfulness is unconquerable.

And, who was your favourite character then? Who is your favourite now?
Hmmz, I've had my phases with each of the Senshi. A time for Mars, a time for Moon, a time for Venus, a time for Jupiter. But now, as I believe would be clear from various posts throughout SMO, Mercury's my babe.

Have you read the manga and when?
I'm currently in the process of reading through the manga. I downloaded it all, doesn't pay a penny and doesn't have to go out the front door. Doesn't have to wait for it to arrive either. The only bad thing is that you don't actually have it (like hold it in your hands), and that it's b/w, but alas, a small price to pay at the advantage of the abovementioned.

When was it that you saw your first episode of Sailor Moon? Where (if you can remember)?
I started watching it in seventh grade when my friend Jenna first told me about it. It was on right after I got home from school. I had my mom start recording it so I could watch the episodes over and over again.
Why were you drawn to it (if you were at the time)? If you weren't, why not?
I was drawn to it because I was beginning my anime craze that started when I saw the first Tenchi Muyo! movie on the Sci-Fi channel. That and I thought it was so romantic and cute.
Did you first watch the dubs or the original Japanese? If you watched the original Japanese, have you ever experienced the awfulness of what is the dubs (vice-versa)?
I have watched the entirety of the dub. Why? BECAUSE I'M POOR!!!! I'll take what I can get. If i could have gotten them subbed I would have watched the dub anyway because its funny.
And, who was your favourite character then? Who is your favourite now?
At the very beginning I really liked Jupiter because she was alot like me. However as soon as I discovered the StarLights you can imagine what happened. And I don't even have to say who my favorite character is now.
Have you read the manga and when?
I have read the entire manga, mostly thanks to Sailor_Saturn who lent the entire series to me. I don't own it. Why? BECAUSE i"M POOR!!! I read it my senior year of high school.

When was it that you saw your first episode of Sailor Moon (with all the details don't skimp)? Where (if you can remember)?

It was during recess. The whole 3rd grade couldn't go out, so we stayed in the auditorium and watched a movie. Lo and behold, episodes 45/46 came on (Final epis of first season). At first, along with all the other boys, I started booing at the screen. But after 2 minutes, I got hooked and could not stop talking about it. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen! (It was all shiny too! I loved (and still love) all the shiny transformations).


Why were you drawn to it (if you were at the time)? If you weren't, why not?

Everyone (all the anime characters) looked so different from the Looney Toons crap I watched. I was immediately intrigued. I remember thinking how much...better they looked than Bugs Bunny. I loved their attacks and everything (everything was so new and exciting). My favorite attack was Jupiter's Supreme Thunder at that time, I thought Mercury was pretty cool....I didn't know who Venus was then, she looked too much like Sailor Moon.

Did you first watch the dubs or the original Japanese? If you watched the original Japanese, have you ever experienced the awfulness of what is the dubs (vice-versa)?

Dubs...The dubs are a necessary evil to me. Still, they're very nostalgic. Whenever I hear those grating annoying voices...it gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

And, who was your favourite character then? Who is your favourite now?

Being the weird geek I was (and still am) I forced myself to like Mercury because she was smart. "I must like smart people! She can be my role model!" Now, its a bit different. I don't really like that Mercury's TOO smart and prefer Venus over her simply because I think Venus is closer to the person I am than Mercury.

In Year 8. I was sick in bed and my cousin put it on for me.

Why were you drawn to it (if you were at the time)? If you weren't, why not?

It was like nothing I had ever seen befiore. It mixes everyday life and issues most teenagers go thorugh with fantasy and supernatural stuff.

I first watched the dubs. I still haven't seen the Japanese version. But, now that I have more information about the original version, I now know that the dubs are truly horrible.

And, who was your favourite character then? Who is your favourite now?

Well, I first liked Sailor Moon, becuase she related to me alot at the time, but then I got mor einto Sailor Mercury as I found out she had the same birthday as me!

Have you read the manga and when?

I haven't read the manga yet. Why? I have no idea!

When was it that you saw your first episode of Sailor Moon? Where (if you can remember)?
It was 1997, Junior year of high school on Channel 20.

Why were you drawn to it (if you were at the time)? If you weren't, why not?
I had seen Project A-Ko (Another story of super powered school girls) And thought I'd see what was going on in this story. It was right at the point where Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask were revealed to each other in the tower following Zoicite's plan so the plot was its most interesting.

Did you first watch the dubs or the original Japanese? If you watched the original Japanese, have you ever experienced the awfulness of what is the dubs (vice-versa)?
I saw Original and R dubbed before seeing S, Super S and Stars, dubbed and then Seeing Super and Super S dubbed.


And, who was your favourite character then? Who is your favourite now? Sailor Mercury. Sailor Mercury, but PGSM has affected my views.
Have you read the manga and when? Yep past few years. (except codename Sailor V)

When was it that you saw your first episode of Sailor Moon? Where (if you can remember)? - My very first time was about 3 years back. It was on during the weekday mornings from 6:30-7:00 on the WB. They showed Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R and when both seasons ended, the started over. @.@

Why were you drawn to it (if you were at the time)? If you weren't, why not? - Oh, I was definetly drawn to it. I guess it was something different..I had always watched shows like Rocko's Modern Life, Hey! Arnold, and Rocket Power. And they were always repeats. I also guess I was drawn to it because I thought Usagi was hilarious and SO clumsy and I just LOVED those expressions. xD

Did you first watch the dubs or the original Japanese? If you watched the original Japanese, have you ever experienced the awfulness of what is the dubs (vice-versa)? - unfortunetly, The WB aired the dubs, which I thought were the real ones back then. But now, I own the S, SuperS, and StarS season, all with both English and Japanese except for Stars, and I actually watch the English versions but with the REAL subtitles on. n.n;

And, who was your favourite character then? Who is your favourite now? - Back then, I was obsessed with Sailor Mars. She was just like me! But, times change, and people grow up. When I saw the Sailor Moon S movie on Cartoon Network the same year Sailor Moon was introduced to me, I saw Sailor Neptune. And thought.."No, SHE is more like me!". And thus, my obsession began over my beloved Michi-san. <3

1. I was 6 or 7, and it twas the first episode on toonami.
2.yes and no. I had an intrest, then lost it, then got it again from a friend.
3.I saw it in dub, but a friend gave the entire set to me, It was in sub. I thought It was the coolest in Japanese.

When was it that you saw your first episode of Sailor Moon? Where?
The first time I saw it was a few years ago, I think it was the year 2000, not anytime before then
I watched it on a UK channel on Sky that used to be called Fox Kids (it's called Jetix now)
Why were you drawn to it?
I don't exactly know what it was that drew me to it, I always put it one when there was nothing else to watch, I remember going on to the tv guide on screen and saying "there's that sailor programme on again" and I first thought it they really were sailors
I didn't notice a difference with their uniforms and sailor fukus and I must have seen a bit of the cruise episode (season one, Jadeites second last episode) and that's how I ended up thinking so The storyline, characters, transformation scenes etc really appealed to me once I finally got into it
Did you first watch the dubs or the original Japanese?
The dub. I don't see anything in Japanese ever being shown on kids tv in the UK. I have seen all of the original Japanese now though (minus episode 67 )
And, who was your favourite character then?
Sailor Jupiter was my favourite of the senshi, I wanted to be just like her, strong, a great cook and ice skater . Zoisite was my favourite villain
Who is your favourite now?
Out of the senshi, I like them all the same, I feel there's something to love about all of them
Zoisite is still my favourite villain along with Fisheye
Have you read the manga and when?
I own all the new reprints (12 volumes) with translations, and I'm still reading them now

I first discovered it's existance in some old video game magazine back in '94 I think it was, when they showed the japanese Megadrive game. Didn't know much about it, because like I said, that was the first time I discovered it's very existance (I think it was. I don't remember, it was a long time ago). I was 8 at the time. Anyway, over the months, I heard a little bit more about it, and I thought it was gay and stupid back in those days. Around 2002, I started to get into Sailor Mars in particular, but didn't still didn't really watch the show. I didn't really become a fan until like mid-2005 I'd say.

The first time I saw a WHOLE episode was in mid 2005, when I got a Sailor Moon S 3 disc DVD set.

Why were you drawn to it (if you were at the time)? If you weren't, why not?
Well, when I first heard about it back in 1994 I think, it was when I saw the Megadrive SM game in an issue of EGM. Then come 1995, I discovered it was working it's way to the US, and I thought it was gay and stupid back in those days, and I still did for a few more years. Then in 2002, I was drawn to Sailor Mars and her alone. There was something about her. Anyway, I'd say by that point, I'm not sure if I'd say I had a change of heart about the series by then. Come 2005, I decided to check out Jupiter after someone made a comment that Jennifer Garner looked like her, and I thought she was hot! After that, I checked out Venus, and then I decided to check the series out altogether, and now I like it alot.

And, who was your favourite character then? Who is your favourite now?
In 2002, before I even was a fan of the series period, I had a small, secret interest in Sailor Mars (I think it was secret if I remember).

Have you read the manga and when?
Negative. I think I've seen scans of it though.

I saw the dubs,which got me into Sailor Moon.I don't find anything annoying about the dubs,though..

I liked the 4 Generals,and I still do!They're really cool!

When was it that you saw your first episode of Sailor Moon (with all the details don't skimp)? Where (if you can remember)?
Actually, my timing was perfect. I had got home from school (I was in the fourth grade), and around Four o Clock I randomly turned the channel to Cartoon Network and the first episode of Sailor Moon was just coming on. It was destiny...

Why were you drawn to it (if you were at the time)? If you weren't, why not?
I LOVED the opening. The singing, the music, the visuals. Loved it. I always looked forward to seeing it when the show came on. Another thing I liked about the opening was when they introduced the other Sailors. From the moment I saw Sailor Jupiter put that ball of lightning around her, I was officially hooked to the show, and I greatly anticipated the episode where she first arrived. My acticipation was finally rewarded when I saw the words "Jupiter Comes Thundering In" on the title screen. I got so excited, I was finally going to see Sailor Jupiter! ;D Aside from the opening, I liked the girls and the comedy. Emphasis on the comedy. Watched it everyday at Four as soon as I came home from school. I had some issues. I had never seen anything like this show and I was obsessed with it. I used to draw pictures of Sailor Moon all the time and put them on my door. Heh, heh.

Of course, it was the dub I saw first. I loved it, and I still do. ;D Just last year I went on Amazon.com and ordered 4 Sailor Moon VHS tapes ("A Moon Star Is Born", "Scouts Unite", Jupiter and Venus Arrive", and "Good Queen, Bad Queen") that contain two DiC dubbed episodes on each tape. And I love them, no shame at all. I plan to buy more dub tapes from the first and second season when I get more money. And the Japanese episodes, I like them too. But I like, and will always like dub more (the DiC dub, that is). Probably because I was young and I saw them first.

And, who was your favourite character then? Who is your favourite now?
Sailor Moon and Sailor Jupiter were my favorite back then. Sailor Moon because she was so cute and clumsy, and Sailor Jupiter because was tough! I loved the idea of a strong girl who didnt take any crap from anyone. But now, I like them all equally.

Nope, not yet. Maybe someday I'll read them.

Well, I was young of course. I can't remember the exact age/date.

Well my old ex-friend introduced me to it and I was attracted to it because of the beautiful artwork.

I was first introduced to the dubs. Then when they stopped it I went on the Internet and checked out more about it and found out that they butchered it and didn't tell the original story, but I still watched it and like it. But the Japanese episodes are way better because its the original story line and nothing is cut out. They are never going to be showing the Stars series so I got them on DVD and they are fantastic.

4) And, who was your favourite character then? Who is your favourite now?

Sailor Jupiter because she is strong and she reminds me of me on how she looks and I like her courage and strength. I also like Sailor Saturn because she is small, but she has strength within her w/ her power. She's purple, which is my favourite colour too.

5) Have you read the manga and when?

No, haven't read it, but I'm interested, I don't know if I should get the English ones because don't they cut a lot of stuff from those? And if I get the Japanese ones I don't understand the language of course, lol.

When was it that you saw your first episode of Sailor Moon? Where (if you can remember)? I first saw it in 1999. It was the episode when Makoto thinks Ail might be the Moon Shadow Knight. I was at home, alone.
Why were you drawn to it (if you were at the time)? If you weren't, why not? I wasn't drawn into it, until I gave it another try in 2000. I liked the characters and the plot.
Did you first watch the dubs or the original Japanese? If you watched the original Japanese, have you ever experienced the awfulness of what is the dubs (vice-versa)? I watched the dubs first. I didn't realize how much better the original was until I saw it, now I could never go back to the dubs.
And, who was your favourite character then? Who is your favourite now? Sailor Moon was my favorite character when I first got into the show. Now it's a tie between Usagi, Rei, Haruka, Michiru and Hotaru.
Have you read the manga and when? No, but maybe someday I'll buy it.
