I'm wondering why Ami's attacks are all water-related. There is no water on Mercury. Also, in Western astrology, there is no relation between water and Mercury. Ami is a Virgo, an Earth sign. Anyone have any idea why her attacks are water-related? Also interesting that her last name is Mizuno. Mizu is water, I believe.

I can not remember where I read this from or even if it is true about the plannet Mercury iteself. Mercury can be very hot when half the sphere is facing the sun and the other half can be cold even colder that Earth.
He attacks in opinion are 25% water and 75% cold.
Believe me when I say her attacks are COLD.

In Japanese, Mercury is called Suisei, which translates as 'water planet'. I do seem to remember that the sign for water (http://www5.big.or.jp/~otake/hey/kanji/gifmoji/f2/mizu.gif) also means something like 'wealth', which would make a good bridge with the Western definition for the Roman God Mercurius and the Greek God Hermes, who were associated with merchants and travelers. I think you can also make the connection with the word 'liquidity' or 'liquid means' in the economic world.

Well in her name Name Ami Mizuno, "Ami" means Beauty or I think I saw on one website were "Ami" Ment Friend in French or somthing. . . But "Mizu" means water, and "no" is a Japanese possessive modifier, so Mizuno ami (Amy Anderson) means Beauty/Friend Of the water.
And I dont know if that helps at all or anything But they could of based her name on the attackz or the attacks on her name so ^-^

The 'mi' part in Ami means beauty indeed, as it is the same kanji as the 'mi' in Minako. The kanji for the 'a' part is unknown to me though :/

I think that her water attacks are water based because water is calm and Ami is the calm one out of all of the Senshi. I like that her attacks are water based.
