Not all of the information you find out there is accurate or can be trusted. Kinmokousei.net(or something like that) is a pretty good source that focuses on the starlights in depth.

Most of the fan sites give accurate information, since one site gives out information, and dozens of others simply copy it and put it on their site (in their own words, to prevent pplz from accusing them of ripping).

Of course if the original is false information . . .That false information gets spread.

Of course if the original is false information . . .That false information gets spread. True, but I think it doesn't happen too much on pure fan sites. I mean, webmasters of fan sites want accurate information, and this excludes false information. Of course, 'official' sites sometimes put up false info by choice to try and shake off fan sites (or for whatever other reason), but then again, I never really liked 'official' sites anywayz.

In the anime, they transform into men as civilians in order to disguise themselves.
In the manga, they are simply disguised as men - but they're always women.
And about the websites - most sites want accurate information, so they try to find out what is the best. However, there are some sites (I can think of one in particular) that come up with these theories that make NO sense, and try to pass them off as fact. Then people get confused, and can't tell the difference between rumours and facts.
