Well I want to help out around here so I have a few suggestions. Please no bashing, I really do have all our interests at heart. If I am suggesting something that is out of the question or is all ready in action please politely tell me. I'm sensitive... don't make me cry! XD It goes the other way around too. Don't be afraid to tell me why any of my suggestions are not one hundred percent! Heck, if we debate I don't mind at all! (Keep it civil though.)
Now that that's out of the way I am a bit more at ease. Anyways here are some suggestions:
1) In the roleplaying section I see that there is a thread for character profiles. I'm not really into that because if I roleplay with someone I don't want to dig through another thread just to see who their character is. It's a hassle.
That thread also constricts us to using a limited amount of characters, or else it would get too big. I'm the type of person who likes to create new characters depending on the setting and plot the roleplay offers. I find it limits our creativity if we can only use one or two characters. We should broaden the range!
A good solution is to post your character's profile in every roleplay you go into. It doesn't even have to be in the skeleton format. I'm sure you can give us all the information in a neat paragraph introduction easily as well if you want. Either way, you will know who the character is and have the person post what the character is doing relevant to the roleplay at the same time. It's hitting two birds with one stone! =) (This way nobody has complete dibs over canon characters! They can try their hand at it if that canon is available in that specific roleplay! =D)
2) Another suggestion is if whoever creates the thread gets to post their own rules. Of course the rules also include the board rules all ready in existence, but they may want to add a few things. How long should each post be at least? Do they want an even gender ratio? Do they want an even alliance (good/neutral/evil) ratio? etc. This allows them to post their own plot, setting and what characters are needed. (I know this is in existence somewhat, but I added this to be more of an idea or guideline for others, no? XD)
3) A good way to separate the roleplay boards, I think, would be by time. Each section could be divided by the setting like Silver Millenium, Seasons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, All Grown Up (Future-ish), and then Crystal Tokyo. If one roleplay will take place in a completely different setting and/or time we could make that an Alternate Universe/Reality. Or if they wanted to make a roleplay crossing over with another Anime, Movie, Book, etc we could have a section called Crossovers. Kind of get my drift?
4) I think more Fan Art competitions would be super fun! Although they should have a set deadline and more constricting guidelines as to what the picture should show. One contest could be of drawing Haruka only. Do you want to see head shots, down to the waist, full body poses? Maybe you want her in a specific scene? Did you want a specific emotion? Should Haruka be doing a certain action? Did you want the whole picture overall to have a certain mood to it? Those kinds of things! =D
5) Why not have Fan Fiction competitions as well? Have members write something according to a certain theme! Did you want a story written about love, vengeance, or maybe tragedy? Did you want a story to be written in chapters? If so, how many? Is there a certain character or characters that you want the story to be about? Maybe you want it written in a certain Point of View? Did you want the members to write about a plot you made up? Does the story have to be in a specific setting/time? All those things! This would be a lot of fun, and get people to start writing! =D
6) When writing a fan fiction maybe get the person who wrote it to tell everyone not only the rating but what genre there story falls under. Does it include Adventure/Action, Romance, Drama, Horror, Suspense, Tragedy, Crossover, Alternate Reality, an OC, etc? Is it a song fic? Those kinds of things. Some people like to read fan fictions according to genre. Just a thought.
That's all the ideas I came up with! I can't wait to hear some feedback! =D
