A friend of mine has a Proboards made message board and recently, there's been a chat feature built into it. She said she saw it on the Proboards site and got the code to put it in. Well, I was thinking that, since this board is big (much, much bigger than my friend's board) that there could be one built into here too...what do you think?

It was? I ran a search for it before I posted this thread, but couldn't find anything. However, it's quite possible I either missed it when I searched or used the wrong search terms. Only reason I mentioned it, though, was like I mentioned in my first post, that a friend had it on her proboards site. From the looks of things, it appeared to be a proboards plugin, or something like that, rather than a third party chat, like IRC and Flash Chat. If it's been brought up before, sorry for mentioning it again.

It's probably one of those paid services for ProBoards (which means we'll probably never have it  ), but setting up an IRC server isn't too hard. I don't think it's gonna happen for SMO though. |

Zypora, don't think it's a paid for one, since my friend isn't paying anything on her board. Mercury, that's cool. Your reasoning makes sense to me, so I'm not going to complain and push it. Only thing I'm wondering is how I missed that thread when running a search for chat in this section of the board...oh well.

well, i didnt see a rule on thread ressing so hopefully its chill, obviously this thread is quite old but i thought itd iterate some points about it..
having a chat room for a forums is kinda redundant, i mean this already is a place for people to go and chat, obviously not in real time as an IM is, but that brings me to my point, if a few people want to chat about randomness, then i mean wouldnt it be more logical to just add eachother to messengers and create a group chat.
i think thatd be easier than having 100 different chats for a forum plus then you can keep in contact with people easier than waiting for them to login aswell
if thread ressing is uncool then i will throw no fuss if this is removed
