Going on vacation tomorrow morning. In less than 8 hours my gf will arrive on Amsterdam Airport and we're taking a cruise in the Mediterranean ^_^; Can't wait. I'll be back the 25th of this month, so two weeks of absense for me. Promise to take pictures (just like I did with all those other trips I made -.- )

ISH BACK!! Meh, and my gf's gone now ... Ohw well, in December I'll be visiting her again CRUISE: We took a plane from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Rome, Italy, where we took a shuttle bus to a place called Civitavecchia, where we boarded the ship (for those interested, it's called the Carnival Freedom). The next day we were in Naples, Italy, where we visited ancient Pompeii. It was really beautiful with everything being as preserved as it was, but the heat (think 40-45 C / 105-115 F) was killing. After that we went back to the ship. The cruise director was a great guy, he was really funny and knew how to entertain the folks. The food was wonderful as well. Next day was a sea day, and the next we were in Rhodes, Greece where we went on a jeep safari. I've never gone to do offroad driving, so I was pretty much having the time of my life My gf and I had this thing going on where she'd mention the jeep safari, then I'd be grinning broadly (because she knew I wanted to drive a jeep and she knows how I drive *grin* ) and she'd be 'you're NOT driving'. Heh, that was until she found out that the jeep was a manual (and she can't drive that), so I got my fun *grin*. All in all it was great fun. I killed the engine maybe 6 times or so, but that was all on flat blacktop (the clutch is too sensitive *grumble* ). The next day we ended up in Izmir, Turkey, where we went to a waterpark. That turned out to be somewhat of a letdown because we'd expected it to be bigger. It was fun to see my aunt haggle with the taxi drivers though. Price went down from 150$ to 40$ for the ride. The day after that we got to Istanbul, Turkey, where we visited the Palace of the Sultans and had some shopping done. Ugh, those shopkeepers in Turkey are really bad. If you just walk past, minding your own effing business, they just walk up to you and virtually yank you into their shops. So that wasn't as great as we thought it'd be either. The skyline was said to be beautiful though, but I missed that :/ After that we had another day at sea, and the next we were in Athens. We visited the Acropolis and the Parthenon (again, in 40-45 C / 105-115 F in the blistering sun atop the Acropolis). It was really beautiful though, and imho worth the trouble. It was a pity we weren't allowed to actually enter the Parthenon and look around inside. Next was Katakolon, Greece. That was a little village on the sea whose only tourist attraction was a tiny shopping strip and the town of Olympia which was nearby. I bought some statues of Greek gods though (I love Greek mythology). Then another day at sea, and then was Livorno, Italy. It was near Pisa, so we went to see the leaning tower. It was quite impressive to see, though we didn't enter it (it was like 60$ extra and there was no guarantee that we could actually enter, and we weren't about to take that risk). Then we went back to Civitavecchia and on the pre-last day did an excursion to Rome, been to the Vatican (we couldn't enter the building unfortunately), got a tour through the Colosseum and visited the Trevi Fountain. All in all quite impressive. Me and my gf both loved the jeep safari best though. Pictures will come soon
