The 'no' in Tsukino means 'of', and Tsuki no Usagi means Bunny of the moon alright. Of course, you can't name a made up anime character Tsuki no Usagi, so they made it Tsukino Usagi. Basically, this doesn't matter, as it is pronounced the same way. No, it doesn't. The NO( ) in her name means FIELD. It would have to be written as or in order for it to mean 'of'. But its written as which does NOT mean of. rut.org/cgi-bin/j-e/fg=b/inline/pix/dokanji?PP=&RR=no&SS=&BB=&QQ=&YY=&WW=&EE=&scope=b

Okay, but how would you explain the use of 'Field' in a name that would otherwise be so similar to the translation 'Bunny of the Moon'? 'Moon Field Usagi'? Doesn't make sense to me.

The name Tsukino, is a real surname. There may be people in Japan who have that surname. If we read it literally, means moon field. However, it is very unlikely that Ms. Takeuchi wished for Usagifs full name to be read literally. However, her name is being used as a name for a human. Usagi was a moon princess in her previous life, and in the twentieth century she was given a real Japanese name that sounds exactly like the Japanese phrase that means rabbit of the moon. That is what we mean when we say that Usagifs full name is a pun on that Japanese phrase. When the Japanese write down the Japanese phrase that means rabbit of the moon, they use the characters .

I never said 'literally', I just said ... aah forget it. I don't feel like argueing over what I did or didn't say ... I meant every word of it though Anywayz, I still think her name means 'Bunny of the Moon', coz that's what Takeuchi-sama aimed for.
