I haven't made one of these in a while.
Question:
Do you think they should have made Haruka a boy so that she could turn into a girl like the Starlights?
Someone asked this in a chat room over at SailorScouts.org and I answered something like this:
They could have done that but it would have been some work for the dubbing companies to change it all. I liked her the way she was. Besides, Sailor Uranus was introduced way before the Starlights. If she turned from boy to girl then they would be to simliar. It would be weird.

Hmmz, I agree. That, AND I think her relationship with Michiru would have been ... interesting, to say the least

I think that'd be cool, but it'd interfere with the Uranus and Neptune relationship. If we did have that, Season S would have some tweaking with the dub companies.

They tweaked it anywayz, so that's not exactly a point. But if you go with the 'Sailor Senshi should be girls' rule, then yea, that'd make sense. It's only too bad that dubbing companies can't change the appearance of a character ... I would have liked to tell dubbies off by saying 'LOOK! HERE'S WHAT SHE REALLY LOOKS LIKE!'

I like Haruka more as a girl. In fact, I would've liked it if the Starlights were always girls too. If Haruka were able to transform into a male, then we wouldn't have an awesome lesbian couple on BSSM! You know, Ami and Mako don't count....

Aww, Ami-Makoto should count as well IMO. Anywayz, I think the whole issue about the Starlights being male was pretty much worth it. They had a good reason for turning male (although I have second thoughts about their 'ability' to turn male in the first place - it's not like every Senshi can do that), and it gave way to the Inners being attracted to them and fangirls cheering over them and such.

Didn't the Starlights turn male so they could be a male singing group and sing for Princess Kakyuu? I could be wrong, but why did they need to be male to do that? The Fireball Princess knew they were female as senshi.

The manga (I think) explains them being male as in they were looking for Princess Kakyuu, and the easiest way was to find her scent. And apparently males have a better sense of scent.
