I haven't had one of these in a long while. But oh well. Here you go : Debate/Question: Venus is the hottest planet out of the solar system. Doesn't this mean she should control the element/power of fire? My Opinion: Even though Venus is the hottest planet, Mars still fits the "fire" figure. She can have a fiery temper, you know. Venus is also the god of love and beauty, right? Mars is the god of war. (I think that is right ) Fire fits Mars a bit more than Venus, I think.

I think Mars should definitely be fire. In asian astrology each of the five ancient planets has an element. Mars is fire, Venus is metal. Although SailorVenus' powers seem to be more influenced by Greco-Roman mythology, the element of metal shows in several of her attacks: "Venus Love-me Chain" or Sailor V's "Venus Iron Muscle Punch", for example. But Mars' powers are clearly associated with fire.
Venus being the hottest planet is more of an abstract connection, and it's based more on the actual properties of the planet, while most of their powers are based on mythology (although Sailor V's "Venus Sulfur Smoke" does seem to draw on the real planet's characteristics.) Besides, heat does not necessarily mean fire. Love is often describes as a fever, and people talk about "burning with passion." Heat is associated with energy and activity, which suits a goddess of love, pleasure, and desire.

Nicely said, yumecosmos! The show is based off of mythology and not the planet qualities.
