What do you think of the Live action Sailor Moon?
I have seen some of the clips and pictures of the live action Sailor Moon. In my personal opinion, I think it is cheezy. They probably didn't have a good enough budget(plushie cats) and even changed it(Sailor Luna). The effects kind of remind me of the power rangers. I do have to say this though, it was a good try. I really don't think anime is meant to become live action. There are way too many cool effects and scenes that you just can't make come alive.

Yeah, unless you put the money in to back it, of course. I don't generally like live action versions of cartoons anyway, except of course the Scooby Doo movies, they were done well... But take Inspector Gadget as an example, it was just bad... it strayed too far away from the original cartoon and for me, as an IG fan, it didn't work. Back to Sailor Moon though... I haven't seen the show itself but I've seen pictures, and while they seem to have the Scouts looking good in their Sailor forms, other things just don't seem to work, like the soft toy Luna, etc... But then again this is all from pictures so unless I actually see the show itself, I can't really comment on acting or anything like that

Anime can be turned into live action, in America. But its best if the creator of it is overseeing it, that way you don't get such an annoying bastardization.
Look at The Matrix with the Wachowsky brothers overseiing it it came out how they wanted and was pretty cool.

Anime to me is anime, don't mess around with it. Even if they did have a huge Live Action SM thing, I wouldn't bother to watch it. I just don't see the point. You have the story already there a moment in time. Why bother to re-do it, again?

You have the story already there a moment in time. Why bother to re-do it, again? Yeah I get what you mean. It's like remaking a classic movie or TV series for the 2000's... Best example is Astro Boy. I know it was around in the 60's, I've seen some of that version. But the 80's version is the one I grew up with and love. And now they've remade it. And I don't like it at all. Don't know if anyone has actually seen the remade one but yeah... It's just not the same any more. I think in some ways cartoons should be kept just that, cartoons. Of course there are exceptions (like I mentioned before with Scooby Doo), but most of the time... Like this new Garfield movie that's coming out... I've seen trailers and it just looks stupid. Odie isn't Odie, and Garfield doesn't look as good as I think he could... Kudos to Bill Murray though, on the voice, he's probably the best choice for the role... Anyways, I digress, LOL... I wouldn't mind seeing an all out live action Sailor Moon movie, but it would have to be done right... It's interesting that in the current Live Action series, when they are in their normal forms their hair is, well, normal... but in Sailor form they appear to be wearing wigs or hair extensions... *shrug* ...

I highly disagree. The anime massacred the Sailormoon story, in my opinion. The director, who didn't get along with Naoko, didn't let her have as much input as she wanted... and massively changed things around... ahem, the Starlights fiasco being one major example.
The LA, while cheesy at times, is closer to the manga, which is probably why I like it. The costuming is more aligned to how it was in the manga, the General's storyline is in there. Oh course, they haven't really done that much of the whole storyline, but Sailor Luna was approved by Naoko, and the Sailor Princess outfit is from the manga as well... various outfits.
As well, I think it is a good thing that they strayed from the anime... and made it's own path. Who would want to watch a LA version of what's already made?
The thing I would want to see is an anime that follows the manga story... plus the Sailor V storyline. That would be interesting. Perhaps they wouldn't make Minako such an airhead. <- something they didn't do in the LA ... though they made her quite the idol.
Either way, the anime's the anime... and the LA's the LA. They're two different mediums, so I would have expected such changes.

The thing is that the Live action sailor moon has it's weaknesses, however the plot is very strong and the acting has been done really well.
From week to week there is reasons to keep watching to see what happens. The fights themselves are like power rangers, but the plot is excellent and the characters are very well done. I recommend the series and urge people not to judge until they see it.

i think the live action is pretty good. most of the fight scenes are pretty cheesy and like everyone else said before, it looks alot like power rangers. and not all anime that is turned in to a live action turns out bad. look at Great Teacher Onizuka, Gokusen, and You're Under Arrest live actions. i thought all those were great. ive become a huge fan of the GTO live action. i like it just as much as the anime. i believe the reason they used a toy plushie as Luna and Artemis is that it would be extremely difficult and time consuming to train real cats to do what they require. like tmchiba said i think everyone should watch it first before you criticize it. and for the people that want to watch the live action you can find the episodes at bt.base0.net/tv-n/ and tvnihon.dragoneye.ca/
