“Usagi Tsukino! You’re late again!” Yelled the teacher as she marched Usagi into the hall.
“It’s so mean, how could they make a fragile girl stand in the hall?” Suddenly a slight twitch and a groaning sound made Usagi look down at her stomach. “I’m hungry.” Glancing left and right she scanned the hallway for the presence of other people. Finding none she bent down and picked up her lunch. “I did skip breakfast, so… time to eat!”
“What are you doing, Miss Tsukino?!” Usagi turned around slowly fear racing through her body as she confronted her teacher whose anger was making her long red hair bristle and her eyes bulge. “That’s why you get failing grades!” Her teacher said flinging a failed test in her face.
“What?! 30 percent?!”
“Yup!”
“Usagi, I can’t believe you. You’re a girl and you were going to eat your lunch early?” Usagi looked up from where she had been moping on a small brick wall to face her red head friend who was standing nearby.
“But I’m a growing girl.” She whined. “You’re my best friend, Naru. You understand, don’t you?” Naru shuddered and was saved from answering by the arrival of a boy.
“Usagi, how did you do on your test?” Asked the boy with short brown hair and huge glasses.
“Umino…” Usagi said in a halting voice.
“Can’t you tell by how depressed she is?” Asked Naru turning to face Umino. “Of course it was bad.” Usagi gave out a short cry of pain at that statement. “Oh, did that hurt? I’m sorry.” Called out Naru turning back towards Usagi with worry.
“You don’t have to be so upset!” Said Umino trying to cheer her up. “I didn’t get a perfect this time because I didn’t really try.” As he said this he held up a paper with a 95% on it. Naru started to glare at him to try to get him to shut up as it obviously was not working; he didn’t get the message however and carried on. “A test is like a game.”
“How annoying!” Quipped Naru as Usagi started to cry. “Oh! Did you hear that Sailor V appeared again?” Asked Naru, taking her turn at trying to cheer Usagi up.
“Sailor V?” Inquired Usagi as she looked up toward her friend again.
“Yeah she caught the robbers from the jewelry heist.” Replied Naru, warming up to the topic.
“Wow!” Said Usagi, starting to get excited.
“Isn’t it great?”
“What is a Sailor V?” Asked Usagi suddenly realizing that she had no idea what they were talking about.
“Don’t be so impressed if you don’t know her!” Bellowed back an annoyed Naru.
“Sailor V is the heroine in a school uniform that’s been causing an uproar.” Piped up Melvin rejoining the conversation, he leaned in close to the girls. “There’s a rumor that she’s actually a special agent from the police department.”
“Oh there’s stuff like that now?” Mused Usagi. “Must be the end of the centaury.”
“But gems are beautiful, I understand why they’d want to steal them.” Replied Naru wistfully.
“I know what you mean. I want a diamond ring.” Replied Usagi twirling her right hand around.
“I want ruby earrings.” Counted Naru as Umino started to sweat realizing that he was a little out of his league with these girls.
“I wish” Said Usagi, both girls were completely ignoring Umino by now.
“Oh yeah, our store has been having a jewelry sale since yesterday. Want to come?”
“Jewelry sale?” Cried Usagi her test completely forgotten.
“They’ll have rings and stuff that even we can buy.”
“Really? I’ll go!”
“Okay well than come over on your way home.”
“I’ll definitely go. I wish school would end soon.” Exclaimed Usagi as the two excited girls walked off leaving Umino in the dust.
“Umm…Usagi…” Said Umino as he gave a small laugh watching the girl of his dreams walk away.
