After 900 years of...living...don't you think even though she didn't physically grow that she would mentally grow? As a princess, I'm confused as to why Usagi and Mamoru did not hire tutors for her or something. Really, anyone, big or small, who lives for 900 should be pretttyyy smart, pretty wise, and pretty mature.
So it always struck me as odd that Chibi-usa acted like a little kid. Is she really? No...She is really really stupid and immature for her age, 900 dammit. In that episode where Chibi-usa and Usagi switch bodies (sorry, I only remember Venus's episode numbers XD) she was doing fractional adding. If you froze it, you could see what homework she was doing. Doesn't this seem weird considering she's been living for 900 years? Would Usagi and Mamoru really just time freeze her as a kid for Nineeee hundred YEARS?! (actually its less than that, but by what? 12?)
Any thoughts on this?
(I don't like Chibi-usa but I don't hate Chibi-usa. I don't think she really contributes to the story. Her biggest achievements were in SuperS and...that season was crap....I guess she's more important in the manga. Maybe she was only a marketing scheme to attract the smaller younger girls...hahas)

I imagine that whatever happened to cause her to stop developing physically, might have also had an impact on her mentally. Afterall if the brain stops developing at a certain point who's to say that it would even be possible for her to develop further mentally?

That's a really good question! I never really thought about it much myself, but now I guess on the one hand I am inclined to agree with Creshosk. In my opinion, I'm guessing that since she looks like a child, she feels it's okay to act like one. I'm not sure if this is going to make any sense, but perhaps she didn't see the need in being like adults. Everyone else assumes that she is just a child and maybe she really does have the mentality of an adult (or someone wiser), but 900 years is a long time^^; I can understand that if people see her as a child and treat her as a child then she probably would start to just act like a child. 900 years is too long and I'm guessing that maybe she just stopped trying. It's probably easier for her to act like a child, and we know that she can be a tad manipulative, so if she acted as innocent (or bratty) as a child, she'd get what she wants, so maybe it's sort of a survival tactic. Chibiusa also didn't have many friends and most people would find the idea of a 900 year old person with the appearance of a child a little weird. So she might have found it easier to fit in and make friends if she were *normal*- as in, she acted the way she looked...as a child. Then again, I don't think Naoko Takeuchi meant for us to think about it too much^^ Maybe she made a mistake and didn't realise that Chibiusa's mentality at least should reflect the 900 years of her life...

yeah it's knida weird that she an't smarter, it's like you guys have been saying she's nine hundred years old, she should be smarter, and beside's she also has sailor mercury, i think she tutors rini, but im not sure, rini never has mentioned that. and i think i know why she didn't grow up when she was frozen, it has some thing to do with her molucles, they stoped, so it was like she was dead, when your dead you don't grow, all that happens to you is your bodie decays because of bugs and stuff, not so sure.

Helena: In the anime, Chibi-Usa becomes Black Lady because of bad memories, but in the manga, she becomes Black Lady because she wants to be bigger, and beautiful like her mother. It's actually quite emphasized that this is the case, so I don't think she wants to stay a kid, especially after 900 years.
Seiya: She was never frozen. In the manga it is explained that those close to the Ginzuishou have their lifespans expanded. The fact that Chibi-Usa still looks like a 9-year old even though she's 900 years old is explained in the manga by the line 'she just stopped growing'. The actual story doesn't give any insight in how or why.

Technically I'm not sure if this dilemma would even apply to the anime. . .

Anime: Hm I don't think it ever said she was older than what she looked like
Manga: She is stated to be 900 years old. But "she just stopped growing" for some reason. But my question is "Yea, sure she stopped growing but that doesn't mean she can't still be tutored and go to school." A person's mental ability is not limited by their physical appearance, which is why it confused me why she wasn't smarter...not even just "smarter" she should be very very wise and mature.
Hm...you knowwwww the same applies for Usagi. In some episode, I think 127, a letter sent from the future was all hirigana. And the senshi commented that it was "still Usagi" who didn't know any kanji. Anyway, you would think that by at least 900 years more, Usagi would have learned some more kanji and also be very smart. XD Although, we are talking about Usagi....
omg wait...How did the anime explain the jump from 20th century to 30th century? I wasn't paying attention XD. Was it because of some freezing over of the world?

Was it because of some freezing over of the world? Yeah, some crisis that caused Usagi to freeze the world. Odd. A person cannot develop mentally past the physical limitations of their corporeal form. And even if some people have the physical ability some people just don't have the mental capacity to expand beyond certain self imposed limits. That said if she didn't pay attention in school or to tutors or if she was treated as a child she would not have developed mentally passed her preceived age. I think they did say that she was also mentally the age she appeared. but its been awhile since I've read my manga.

in the manga it's said that chibiusa stopped growing, but it's also said that "she is just a little child". Yeah, I agree it's strange that she mentally stays the same but that is the story naoko takeuchi invented...

The sub anime does not mention any kind of freezing over (except for the SMS movie). At least, I don't think so. I would have remembered if it did.
