Just kind of curious...
In Stars, of all the senshi, Hotaru/Sailor Saturn seems to have the least amount of personality. I'm not saying she has NO personality. She is extremely duty-oriented and brave, but other than that, what is her personality?
I refer specifically to the Stars anime season.

That is good queston.
Maybe they tend to make her this very mysterous chatacter. That is part of what makes her so cool is that you can not help but wonder.
You tend to fill in the blanks with certain aspects of yourself and/or other things.
I kind of see her a cool gothic girl with a very mellow personallity.

I would classify Hotaru as more of a shy quiet girl, who has a hard time opening herself up to others. But once your good friends with her she can say and open up anything to you.

Just because someone wears black, doesn't make them emo. Besides that, US high schoolers are quick to staple labels on a person without even knowing what makes them tick.

Yeah, I agree. I like to wear a lot of dark colours, but I'm not "Emo" or "Goth". I am who I am *shrug* And I guess the same can be said for Hotaru.

I guess Hotaru in the 'S' series was as you all have described her, but I'm referring to Hotaru in the Stars series. How would everyone characterize her then?

I was watching Stars the other night and I thought that she looked quite a bit younger. - In Series S Hotaru looked about in her 12 to 14.
- In Sailor Stars Hotaru looked about 9 to 11.
The Hotaru in Stars was more towards the cute and sheltered. Lethalxrose best describes her as: I would classify Hotaru as more of a shy quiet girl, who has a hard time opening herself up to others. But once your good friends with her she can say and open up anything to you. Well, thats just me. |

But I don't think a persons personality would alter that much. Maybe being to open up and express herself more at an older age. While in the Stars she would keep more to herself.

It was a joke. You been hanging around Ami too long... She makes you uptight. Unlike me who spend more time with Usagi so I'm loose like a goose... o.o Now back on Hotaru....... She looks better in black than any Goth or Emo person ever could. |

I don't know about the anime, but in the manga, Hotaru wears so much clothing because she's trying to hide the scars she obtained through an accident a few years back.
As for the emo/goth thing, I think Hotaru is a bit emo. She has no friends (except Chibiusa, of course), and she sometimes talks about how she never should have been born. Doesn't that sound kinda emo-ish to you?

Doesn't that sound kinda emo-ish to you? The accident you refer to is, as far as I know, the very day Mistress 9 possessed her. I think you're wrong about the emo thing though. See, saying you should never have been born can mean a few things. Being emo makes you say it because you think your life sucks and it doesn't hold any kind of value, blah blah. Hotaru however, says it in her right mind, knowing full well that her awakening actually means something, and her powers to destroy the world are definately a factor to consider. |

I don't think Stars Hotaru is emo at all. She got a new start, and seems much happier.
