My brother has recently told me not to use google due to the fact that people are appparently sending viruses through it. I was wondering if anyone else had heard of this and if they could confirm this for me.

Google is one of the globally most used websites around. If it would be as unsafe as to provide malicious users to send viruses over it, I don't think they would make 500M+ USD per year in stocks. Possibly some links on Google, such as the pages Google gives links to, may contain viruses, but that's not Google's fault. I haven't heard any such news and will not yield to use Google for all my websearching.

Some people can use Google to get Credit Card numbers and pin numbers to them. Any site can do that. Just obey the golden rule: DON'T use your credit card ANYWHERE but in real life.

Or just buy gift cards, and use them at websites.

Or use trusted sites only . . . Though how one sends things through a search engine is rather odd. . . unless they mean gmail . . but that pretty much applies to any freemail account, don't open attatchmetns or e-mail from unknown addresses.

I got an email from Chase somethin, askin me to login to verify that I'm the rightful user of my bank account. Heh, I've never heard of Chase and I CERTAINLY don't have a bank account there.
KNOW PHISHING WHEN YOU SEE IT!
EDIT: If your bank sends you emails with links and asking you to login, phone your contact person at the bank and ask for a confirmation. Don't trust the web with ANY personal information.

Nope. I don't think we have anything other than the national banks.
