well,have seen sailor moon in spanish dub and japanese, although it also shows how usagi and rei fight it is obvious that they care of each other and are best friend but i saw a little piece of sailor moon in english and i really dislike how they change sailor mars personality, although she is kind of mean for many people the dub made her worse like if she really hate moon. i made this because she's my fav senshi and want to know what you think. sorry is my english is bad

The Japanese doesn't portray her as evil or anything. She's pretty cute with her meaniness

*nods in agreement* So many dub fans hate Rei because of the way she's shown in the English version. It's a shame... Raye is not Rei! I guess they wanted to make the audience side with Serena more, but really, Usagi kind of deserved most of Rei's meanness. I didn't like how the anime changed her personality to begin with, and then the dub utterly destroyed her ><;

I like Rei better in the English version, but then again, I grow up with that version, and not the other versions.

Dub Raye is meaner than Japanese Rei. And dub Serena is more annoying than Japanese Usagi.

Dub Raye is meaner than Japanese Rei. And dub Serena is more annoying than Japanese Usagi. That may be true, but I still like the English version better then any other version.

Plus the dubbing make her a bit more childish at times, plus she is more down to earth.

Have you seen and completely understood each and every[/b] version? Rei's true personality is and always will be remaining in the original manga. The anime's take on her is a bit different but is, by far, the closest to the true Rei. And the true Rei isn't being evil or even mean. She's just the type of person who believes in tough love. She gives it to Usagi all the time, and they have a lot of strength together to show for it.

I don't think she's as mean as you're making her seem. I like her attitude. It's sexy.

A textbook example of the change is at Youtube: Sailor Moon - Folge 43 - Die Falle - (Part 2/2) 5 minute to 5 minute 10 seconds. (German version which is a direct copy from the original): Jupiter slams Mars into a tree and says: I can't believe you hate Sailor Moon that much. Rei responds by holding out the Moon Stick and replies "I wouldn't keep this at the ready for her if I hated her." In the english dub version this is changed to portraying Rei as a potential usurper to Usagi's position. So Ergo: the North American dub is really foul with the Usagi-Rei friendship.
