Chapter 19: Burning Rage
Rei squirmed, screaming furiously at Janeh as she continued to inject poison into Michiru’s body. She tugged irritably at the vines, ignoring the stinging sensation in her legs as the feeling began returning to them.
“Stop! Leave her alone!”
Janeh only smirked as Michiru continued to scream. The gem on her tiara stopped glowing.
Michiru whimpered once Janeh removed the needle from her thigh. She hung her head, silently wishing that Haruka was by her side. “Haruka…”
As though on cue, Haruka dropped down from the empty space above the trio, landing in front of Michiru. She stood at her full height, glaring at Janeh and clenching her teeth. Her body shook with rage.
“Well, look who decided to show up.” Janeh said in a taunting voice.
“Haruka…” Michiru looked up, silently pleading to Haruka to help her and Rei.
“Let them go.” Haruka commanded, her voice low and threatening.
Janeh sneered.
“Let them go or you’ll regret it!”
No reply.
Haruka stepped forward, ready to attack Janeh, but Michiru’s soft, pleading voice stopped her.
“Haruka… Don’t…” She looked up into Haruka’s eyes. “You’ll be hurt…”
“I don’t care, Michiru!”
“How sweet.” Janeh said mockingly. “Oak Darts!”
“Michiru!” Haruka dove in front of Michiru, blocking her from the attack. A short cry of pain rumbled up from her throat as the darts sunk into her back.
“Haruka… Get out of here…”
Rei squirmed. “Haruka! Michiru!” She tugged furiously as the vines that kept her from moving her arms. “Leave them alone!”
“You, shut your mouth.” Janeh said harshly.
“I wont! Let them go!”
“Ha!”
“Please… If you want someone’s soul then take mine and let them be!”
Janeh turned to Rei and smirked. “You would give up your soul for them?”
Rei nodded.
“In that case…” Janeh reached out, ready to take Rei’s soul.
“STOP!”
“What in the…” Janeh whipped around to see whom had yelled at her. Her eyes narrowed when she saw two very familiar figures land a few feet away from her. “You.”
“Let them go.” the stern female voice commanded. Her long hair fluttered out behind her as she stood up and glared at Janeh.
“Don’t touch them.” the other added, getting to her feet as well.
Haruka took the opportunity to free Michiru, ignoring the pain in her back as she did so. She took the green-haired senshi into her arms and moved towards the two girls. “Sailor Moon. Sailor Mercury.”
“Let Rei go!” Usagi yelled angrily.
“How did you get here?” Michiru asked Ami.
“We’ll explain later. Haruka, you and Michiru get through the portal. Usagi and I will get Rei.”
Haruka replied with a slight nod before leaping into the air and taking Michiru through the portal.
Sailor Moon took a step forward, wanting nothing more than to destroy Janeh right then and there for causing her friends pain, but she wouldn’t take the chance of accidentally missing and hitting Rei.
“What are you going to do? Use your little wand on me?”
“That ‘little wand’ could destroy you with a single blast.” Rei growled.
“Shut up.”
Rei yelped when Janeh’s hand came into contact with her cheek, leaving a red mark.
“Next time I’ll do more than slap you.”
“Shabon Spray!”
Mercury’s attack threw Janeh backwards and away from Rei. She and Sailor Moon raced forward to free Rei before Janeh got back up.
“Rei…” Usagi said, pulling the girl into her arms.
Ami scanned her surroundings thoroughly. “Rei, where’s Pluto?”
A frown crossed Rei’s face. “Ariko took her soul. She’s gone…”
“And in doing so I became much stronger.” Ariko said, dropping down from the air above them. “You’re friends may have distracted me long enough for you two to get into the portal, but they are not strong enough to stop me now that I posses the soul of Sailor Pluto.”
“How could you do such a horrible thing?” Usagi whispered.
“Horrible is such a harsh word. I’d prefer to think of it as doing Sailor Pluto a favor.”
“A favor?!”
“Yes. She had such a lonely life. She needed to be put out of her misery. I did just that. You should be thanking me, not wanting to kill me.”
“You killed one of my friends! One of my senshi!” Usagi cried angrily, shoving Rei into Ami’s arms and getting to her feet. “You’ve been harming my friends for no reason other than wanting power so you can take over earth!”
“Am I supposed to care?”
“I’ll destroy you! I’ll make you hurt ten times worse than the pain my friends felt!”
“Ha! Do you hear that Janeh? The little Moon Princess thinks she can destroy me.”
A short bark of laughter sounded from Janeh, whom was back on her feet and approaching Ariko.
“I can destroy you. I WILL destroy you!”
“You may be able to destroy me, but you wont. If you destroy me you’ll destroy Sailor Pluto’s soul, and then there will be no chance of bringing her back.”
Usagi froze.
“Yes. You wouldn’t want to take that chance, would you?”
“Usagi, get rid of her! Turn her into moon dust! She’s lying!” Rei yelled.
Usagi looked down at the wand clenched tightly in her hand. She debated on whether or not she should destroy Ariko. If what she had said was true, then she couldn’t take the chance of destroying one of her friends’ souls. Then again, Ariko could be lying. If that was the case, she needed to be destroyed.
“Such a tough decision isn’t it?” Ariko said mockingly.
Ami held Rei close, wondering what Usagi planned on doing. “Usagi, she might be telling the truth.”
“Or she could be lying!” Rei countered.
“You aren’t making this any easier for her.” Ami hissed.
“Well she could be lying! Since when have evil villains told us the truth?!”
“Rei…”
“Come on, Usagi! Turn her into moon dust! Turn BOTH of them into moon dust! They killed Setsuna! And we may be losing Michiru at this very moment!”
“What?” Usagi’s head snapped up at those words and she turned to give Rei a questioning look. “What do you mean?”
“Janeh injected poison into Michiru’s body. She might be dying as well! Dust them!”
Usagi turned back to Ariko and Janeh. “Poison?”
“That’s right.” Janeh said. “She was talking too much. I had to get her to quiet down.”
“Poison?!”
“Have you been listening to anything we’ve said?”
“You killed one of my friends and poisoned another… I wont let this continue!” She raised the wand and glared at the pair.
Sailor Moon winked and before anyone could do anything Ami was on her feet. “Mercury Aqua Rhapsody!!!”
The two screamed as the attack hit them full force. Their bodies began to disintegrate, just like Sailor Pluto’s had.
“You dusted them, Ami!”
A small pink crystal floated in the spot where Ariko had been standing only moments ago. It glowed brightly, and once the light and the crystal disappeared Sailor Pluto stood in their place.
“Setsuna!”
Setsuna smiled. “You have defeated out enemies, Sailor Mercury. And you saved me. Thank you.” She looked up towards the air above them. “We must leave now. This place is going to collapse now that Ariko and Janeh and gone.”
“Right.” Ami stood, pulling Rei up with her. “Can you stand, Rei?”
“Of course I can stand. What do you think I am? A wimp?”
Ami stared.
“A little help is always nice though.”
“Yeah.” Ami pulled one of Rei’s arms around her neck and supported her by placing one of her own arms around the ebony-haired girls’ waist. “Let’s go. We still have some vacation time left.”
***
Haruka winced as Setsuna continued to press a damp cloth against her back. “Could you be a little more gentle?”
“Hush, Haruka. You’ll wake Michiru.”
“No I wont. She’s sleeping like a log. Look.” Haruka pointed to the bed across the room.
Michiru was curled up under the sheets sound asleep.
“That antidote you gave her must have made her really tired.”
“She was exhausted from being trapped in the Malevolent Realm.”
“She just told you that so she could get sympathy.”
A pillow flew through the air and slammed into Haruka’s head.
“Hey! What the…” She turned to see Michiru sitting up in the bed wearing a satisfied smirk. “You little…” Jumping away from Setsuna, Haruka leapt onto Michiru’s bed and pinned her down. “I thought you were asleep.”
“You assume too much.”
“Really?”
“Yep.”
Haruka grabbed a pillow and whacked Michiru with it. Michiru countered by grabbing her own pillow and hitting her right pack.
“Hey. Come on guys. Knock it off. Haruka, your back!” Setsuna yelped when a pillow flew at her and hit her in the chest. “All right. Fine. If you’re going to act childish…” She grabbed the pillow and went over to the bed where Haruka and Michiru had started a wrestling match. Raising the pillow, she hit both of them over the head.
“Hey!” they cried in unison.
“You started it.”
Michiru and Haruka leapt at Setsuna, pulling her into the bed and tackling her.
“Let’s see if the Senshi of Time is ticklish.” Haruka suggested playfully.
“What? No! Haruka! Michiru! Stop!”

Ami sighed and leaned against Peter’s chest. He wrapped his arms around her and rested his chin on top of her head.
“Peter…”
“Hm?”
“You know that we’re leaving tomorrow, right?”
Peter nodded. “I know.” His grip tightened on her.
“I… Um…” She blushed. “What I mean is…”
Noticing her blush, Peter chuckled softly. He pulled away and placed his index finger under her chin, lifted her head so that he could look into her eyes. “Let’s not talk about this until tomorrow comes.” He leaned down and placed his lips firmly against hers.
Ami felt her cheeks grow hotter, but she threw her arms around Peter’s neck and leaned into him, deepening the kiss.
Satisfied giggles filled the air.
“They’ve been watching us the entire time, haven’t they?” Peter asked, pulling away.
“Yes.”
“Oh well. I guess we’ll just have to give them what they want.” He grinned and kissed her once more.
