-laughs- All the theories posted were really accurate, so you never know...but I think it's really sweet Mako was so devoted to her old boyfriend she thinks every guy looks/reminds her of him.

Well, gonna post something CRAZY now. Shoujo-ai warning applies.
I think it could be all one big act. After her old boyfriend/sempai left her, she felt so betrayed by him that she simply discared the whole male society. She turned tough 'n butch (presumably the reason why her bf left her, but it could also be the result) and set her mind to women. Why is she chasing after boys then, you ask? To avert her friends' eyes. *whispers conspiratorially* I think she has a crush on one of the inner senshi.

Okay. . but I don't see how her sempai (closest we really have to that word is elder since its someone in a position of more experience over you like lowerclassmen call upperclassmen) would have that sort of affect on her. The japanese version its not a love sort of thing, its a respect sort of thing.

The word 'sempai' could be used to express both respect as a special relationship (be it within the limits of the original meaning of the word).

No, when a lower classmen and an upper classmen get close enough they start calling each other by a more familiarterm. kun and/or chan or ko. Terms such as sama and sempai and sensei are terms of respect. When Usagi and Mamoru got close she started calling him mamo-chan and he called her usa-ko. . .

Terms such as sama and sempai and sensei are terms of respect. When Usagi and Mamoru got close she started calling him mamo-chan and he called her usa-ko. . . Yes, well, Makoto and her ex aren't exactly close anymore, now are they? I'm sure there was a time when she called him -chan or -kun (the latter being a common name for boys until they come of age, close or not).

You'll find that quite a few fan sites will get things horribly wrong. Even the vaunted S.O.S Campeign screwed up royally, as they projected the whole "Prince Uranus" thing and vehemently swore that Haruka and Michelle weren't lesbians.

Guess I was lucky enough not to encounter such mistakes during my roaming days. Haruka and Michiru are lovers, and they're lesbians.

better to grab subbed episodes anyways. I dont like the mistakes made in the dubbing, but fan-dub seems to work.

My opinion on this is that since she was alone for so long b4 she met Usagi, she was lonely. So she turned to the only possible choice... following after the "hot" guys. *shrugs* that is my opinion...
