Gomen, forgive me all of you. I've been rather busy and aparently so has my good buddy Creshosk. Forgive us. The posts will be here, in fact I'm going to do mine now, so sit back and be ready for a long read, because you'll find that when it comes to Amy I have alot to say. Amy's character is deeper than that of most of the Sailor Senshi, prehaps that is what drew me to her in the first place. Throughout the many years I have spent watching this animated girl travel through her world I have in some ways developed a special bond with her, let me share that with you now. To begin with the number one thing that Amy takes the most heat for among the American community is her study habits. In Japan they don't have this problem with her, but yet in America she has been assulted time and again about her way of dealing with school. Now the moment you've all been waiting for (Thoes few of you who can actualy remember my earlier posts ) It's time to dig deeper. Amy studys the way she does and for the amount of time that she does in order to get good grades. This seems like a logical duh but it is only the beginning of a chain. Thoes good grades where only the means to get into a good college, not an end in itself. Once in a good institution Amy would then redouble her efforts because even than she still would be far from her goal. Next after recieving good grades in her college she would go into a good medical school and the process would repeat itself over again until we reach her true goal: being a good doctor and following in her mothers footsteps. The good grades she recieves now are only the beginning of what is a long road ahead of her. There was only one point in the series that sticks out in my mind when I think about this topic and that is Amy heading for Germany. It is her dream to go to a school just like this and to leave now would have given her a jump start on that long and winding path that leads to her dream, but in the end a sense of duty drew her back to Sarena's side. Shelfing her dream she rejoined her Princess. Because of this the world is a safer place, but you can't help but wonder at the thoughts that go through her head whenever she is near the airport about what could have been. Amy sacrificed her dream for the Senshi, for duty. Another thing Amy takes alot of heat for is her shyness and her initial withdrawn personality. You dissmiss her as a shy, socialy incompetant fool; this is lazy thinking. DIG DEEPER. Think, question. Why is she shy, peopel are not just born shy, certian actions taken by them and by others around them shape people into who they are and a simular thing happened to Amy. In my years of reasearch I have come across three main reasons as to why Amy is the way she is. After hearing about these and thinking a little, maybe you wont be so quick to judge. The first and most odvious is the fact that she has just moved to Minato-Ku with her mother has a massive effect on her initial personality. Take it from someone whoes been around the world a few times and lived in 10 different houses in three countries. Moving effects you in ways that are not easily understandable. The older you are when you move the worse it is as social groups have already clicked. Amy as the new kid in school is immediatly going to be ostracised as any other new kid has throughout history. This kind of treatment espicaly if you go through it again and again can cause several things in children, one of which is a shy personality. The second and I think the most important reason for our dig is her intellegence, IQ of 300 if I remember correctly makes a poor IQ 145 guy like me a little intemidated. Smart people have an unfortunaite ability to isolate themselves, usualy through no fault of their own. Either through arogence on behalf of the smart person or through Jealously on behalf of thoes around them. Intellegent people tend to be isolated. If you remember the first episode that Amy is in, picture this in your mind, Amy looking out the window, a slightly sad and far away look on her face while in the backround the rumormill is in full production kicking out rumor after rumor which serve only to isolate her more and impound upon her shyness. I Personaly think this is the most telling reason for her shyness. Next and last her parents Divorce/Seperation. Her father is an artist and Amy draws alot of her latent artistic ability from him. I'm not going to go much into detail about this, all of us here know either first or second hand what a Divorce/Seperation can do to children. If you really have any questions you can PM me, but for now we're moving on. Put one of these topics into a person and you will have a shy kid. Put two of them into a human being and you will have a withdrawn person who has trouble relating to people. Put all three of them togather and 9 out of 10 times you have a mental case on your hands. Amy's inner strength and will are immense to have rolled with all of these punches and remained standing tall. However I have to give credit to Sarena for keeping her sane. So next time you see that lonly new kid in the lunchroom ignore the rumors and say hi. Believe me as someone whoes been there, if your scincere you'll make their day. Sailor Mercury. What goes through your head when you hear that name? A cool shiver of Mercury Ice? Or a rolling of the eyes at the weakest Senshi? Your answer says alot about your ability to dig, I'll leave it up to you to decide which is the best response. However before you decide allow me to show you exactly what her powers are for. The first thing you have to understand about Sailor Mercury is that she is unique among the Senshi in that she is a supporting force in battle instead of a direct force. (at least until SuperS that is) With most of the Senshi their attacks are simply that, attacks that are progressivly more powerful and used as blugeons for smashing any Yoma that dare show its face. Sailor Mercury however is unique: Mercury Bubble Blast: Sailor Mercury's initial attack, fires out a swarm of icy cold bubles which quickly turns into a mist shrouding the battlefield from sight. This can allow for quick escapes for a friend in danger or more often a disorienting force for Sailor Moon giving her the precious time she needs to power up an ulitmate assult. A very useful supporting attack. Shine Aqua Illusion: Sailor Mercury's second attack, this fires out a splash of icy liquid that freezes on contact. An extremyl useful attack in the hands of a Sailor Scout who values Brains over Brawn. This attack is another assult that allows for perfect placement for Sailor Moon setting up an easy Yoma kill. Another extremly useful supporting attack. Mercury Aqua Rapsody: Sailor Mercury's final and most powerful attack, this attacks shoots out a jet of highly pressured water at an enemy Yoma. I can hear your thoughts 'Why should I be afraid of a little water?' For your information a fire hose has the power to sweep a grown man off his feet. Imagine something ten times more powerful. 'Starting to get the picture?' This attack is Sailor Mercury's only non-supportive direct damage attack. Before this Sailor Mercury was almost always forced to set up enemy Yomas for the others to take down. After learning Mercury Aqua Rapsody Sailor Mercury became a far more powerful Senshi because she was able to set up enemies for herself instead. Well that's all she wrote or in this case all he wrote. After an hour and a half with only a five minute water break I am finaly done. Good Luck Creshosk. *Yawn* I'm going to bed.

I've been dreading this. . I know that Hawk is going to kick my . . . posterier.
Ami Mizuno (水野 亜美 Mizuno Ami) is a Sailor Senshi, She is known as Amy Mizuno in the English translations, and briefly as Amy Anderson in the early anime dub. When transformed, she is known as Sailor Mercury. As Sailor Mercury, her abilities are water-based, although for quite some time very few of them are strictly offensive in nature. However, her intelligence makes her the default tactical planner of the Sailors and of the series. She also has a "mini-computer" and visor, helpful for scanning her peripheral environment, among other things. Reflecting the nature of her power, her senshi uniform is coloured marine blue, white and cyan.
Ami is a very archetypical character and easy to sympathize with, and was the most popular character in Sailor Moon for quite some time. With a 'generic' genius IQ of 300, she nonetheless gains appreciation for artistic things, especially music (and was even a fan of a J-pop band before any of the other Senshi). She also enjoys swimming and playing chess. Ami is generally considered the sensible one of the five girls, and usually is a scapegoat for embarrassment when the group is having a dullard moment.
Ami lives with her mother, a busy doctor who is not home very often, and whose face was never seen in the anime. Ami is originally obsessed with being a perfect student, although it is unknown if her mother contributed to this behavioural trait. Ami's father, a painter who effectively abandoned his family to do his work, is only referred to in the paintings (in place of postcards or letters) he sends. Ami seems to be vaguely appreciative towards him in the anime, but resentful in the original manga. She is one of the few girls in the series whose family situation was explicitly mentioned in the anime.
Ami was given her own 'special,' an animated version of a manga story featuring her as the star character. She was the only member of the team budgeted for such a story, and it is generally considered one of her best roles, humorously trying to deal with the concept of having a romantic admirer.
Her personality is generally consistent through various adaptations of the series. Originally, Ami only wore glasses while reading, but perhaps due to fan love for meganekko, she wears them more consistently in the new live action series -- though it is mentioned that she does not need them for vision correction, but prefers them for the appearance.
Starting in Episode 21 of PGSM, Ami was ensnared by the Dark Kingdom and became Dark Sailor Mercury, an evil version of herself. This applies solely to the live action series, and not to the manga or anime versions.
She is sometimes compared to Michiru Kaioh because of their water-based powers, which are actually quite different otherwise. Ami is also more of a 'science' intellectual while Michiru is more into the aesthetics of music. Ami is also considered generally more friendly, although quite shy over most of the metaseries.
(In an early DiC promotional tape that advertised Sailor Moon to television stations, Ami was also called Blue.)
Hair: During an interview, head animators admitted although seemingly simple, Ami's hair was extremely hard to draw. She has the most widely inconsistent drawn hairstyle in the metaseries (especially in lower budget episodes), although the 'last' design, nearly shoulder length, is generally considered the fan favourite. Contrary to the expectations of many viewers unfamiliar with the medium of anime, Ami's blue hair serves only to easily differentiate her visually from other characters, and is likely not intended to be a product of hair dye. The stereotype that may be formed by the unwitting Western viewer -- that of someone who dyes their hair blue, and is probably rebellious and wild -- is almost the polar opposite of Ami's depicted personality. In fact, many of the stereotypes otaku commonly associate with blue-haired anime characters in general likely originated with Ami herself.
Boys: Although the television series rarely featured many males in reoccurring roles, Ami's popularity warranted more than one mention of a boy (Ryō Urawa), with whom she became friends in the first series, who clearly liked her, although he is never mentioned in other series. Ecchi: A semi-running joke in the series is the fact that Ami is extremely observant about nonexplicit romantic or sexual conduct in situations within the series, which usually shocks or surprises the other Senshi. Ami is sometimes jokingly referred to, in anime fandom, as a closet pervert. Attacks: Sailor Mercury's primary attack is "SabaƵ Spray" (シャボン・スプレー shabon supurē; sabaƵ is Portuguese for soap) which is a stream of bubbles that she throws at her target. The attack does not usually harm her target, but it does serve to distract it or deflect any of its attacks. In later episodes of the anime, she acquires a new attack called "Shine Aqua Illusion" (シャイン・アクア・イリュージョン shain akua iryūjon). Still later, she receives an even more powerful attack, "Mercury Aqua Rhapsody." In the live-action series, Ami's attacks are generally quite a bit more powerful; her water spray attacks have proven on multiple occasions capable of pulverizing a youma, and she is able to form a sword from nearby sources of water.
Ami is traditionally the most popular character in the Sailor Moon metaseries, especially among Western audiences. Her fan-favorite status, combined with her apparent "closet pervert" tendencies alluded to above, have made her a frequent player in the copious amount of Sailor Moon yuri fanfiction. Most often, such stories pair her with Makoto Kino, though she has been known to appear with other characters.
