I guess this doesn't apply to Sailor Moon from episode 1 then. Poor Naru-chan is ALWAYS taken hostage or anything, and eventually Ikuko and Shingo are attacked as well (I believe it was with Fisheye, Hawkseye and Tigerseye). Yeah ALl of the People close to Serena and gang are attacked at Some point in the Show...

Indeed, so I'm guessing it doesn't really matter whether or not the bad guys know the good guys' identities. I don't think you guys fully understand. Naturally the bad guys are going to attack everyone(they're badguys and the laws of averages means that eventually the friends and family of the good guys will be attacked. )But if they knew for sure who the good guys were they'd be able to focus their attacks on the good guys friends and family. And that is a major weak point for Sailor Moon. She always had problems when her friends were in danger. Look at Spider-man in the comics for example. Harry Osborne is the son of Normon Osborne, the green goblin, and friends with Peter Parker. In a fight between Spider-Man and the Green Goblin the Green Goblin is killed. And when Harry Learns that Peter is Spider-Man their friendship is over. And not only that but a secret identity protects you from the civies. Poparazzi and the like. Even in the real world Secret Identities are important. Things such as witness protection programs and even on the internet. They are used for protection because a person with too much information about a person you can track them down and interfere in their personal life. Why do you think in the first saga the darkkingdom/negaverse was always trying to find Sailor Moon's real name?

Of course, evil guys trying to kill off your family and friends arn't half as bad as papparrazzi (SP), but it seems that famous movie stars and artists 'n other wellknown characters in the anime can also walk freely around the streets of Juuban (try that in NY or LA). I think the fact that they're trying to keep their true identities a secret is a result of the fact that they're transforming into a form in which they're 'not recognisable'. Anyone with a multiple digited IQ can put an odangoed Usagi together with an odangoed Sailor Moon, but the fact remains that she's not recognised. It gives her the feeling that that should stay that way.

The Senshi don't change to us cause we're following them around, however to the rest of the world her face and hair color are altered significantly. You see this cause there are two magical girls that transform. One we follow around sasami or "pretty sammy" and the other who when in transformed form looks drastically different from her everyday civillian look. And I only compared Sailor Moon to the real world on two notes. the rest was other fictional media that uses secret identities where when the identity was discovered things altered dramatically. The kingpin crushed Daredevil through mental manipulation. Several different Spider-Man ones. and evern superman who is the worse "change" in American comics.

In Spiderman 2 it seemed that revealing his identity to Harry actually saved Peter's life. I know that there'll be a sequel where Harry flies that crazy green goblin thingy, but for now, he's still alive.
