I have been dreading this...and I know I'm not the only one... but here it is...challange #5. The contestants are as follows: Hawk1- Inventor of the Challange Post Competition usualy puts up a good show but not always the best. Preferes to use feelings and emotions to convay his information. Creshosk- The living computer, joined Hawk in creating the Challange Posts. Creshosk is always in the top two but is very modest about his successes. A living encylopedia Creshosk preferes to use facts and data in order to make his point about the characters. Zyppora- Another GMod and a crowd favorite, compared to Hawk and Creshosk Zyppora is a reletive newcommer both to the site as well as the Challange posts. An amazing guy Zyppora has quickly gained the support of the crowd and always posts amazingly we expect alot from him this time. Sailor Venus- The challanger of this Forum and an amazing Sailor Venus supporter. His brillance was plain for all to see when he arrived at this forum as was his passion for Sailor Venus. He has been a welcome eddition to this forum and a constant fear for the other competitors who knew they would have to face him eventualy. That's it... you all know the rules, good luck to you all. And may Minako-chan win over all!

They're something that Hawk started amongst the moderators, just for fun, like a game. He should probably tell you more; afterall, he is the one that started the whole thing.
Oh! I think in the challenge for Sailor Moon, Hawk mentions something about why he started them. You might check there (I don't know when he will EVER get back on here...World of Warcraft has his attention at the moment).

Okay I'm going to get honest and straight to the point here. One of the reasons I've stayed away is...well... fear. Fear of this post. For me Minako is an unknown quanity. In all honesty I don't understand her. One second she is filled with the responsibility of her quasi-leadership role and the next she's just as goofy as Usagi. Hmm... prehaps that is a starting point... The thing with Sailor Venus that you have to take into account is that she was once Sailor V of Manga fame and to that end she was a one girl show having to construct a full emotional being with just one vessel to fill it into. The Sailor Team (Pre-Minako) operates differently, as they are almost constantly togather each individual character does not have to carry the whole load as far as emotional responsibility goes. For example: Ami is the group's intellegence and wisdom, Makoto is the group's brawn and inner strength, Rei is the groups soul and a bit of an instigator, and finaly Usagi is the groups responsible leader but also its scardycat crybaby. The point I'm trying to make is that while the Sailor Team had a whole group of people to rely on as far as creating one round character is concerned Sailor V had only one...herself. Minako is her own Wisdom. Minako is her own Strength Minako is her own Soul Minako is her own Leader To that end you can see a little of each of the other Sailor Senshi inside of the Character of Aino Minako. She is a little bit of everything which is why she is so hard to place and understand. Of course she appears to have a few distinctive traits that are her own alone, however if you think about it each of these traits are shared in a similar way with another Senshi. As a leader Minako shares with Usagi As a boychaser Minako shares with...well everyone (but Ami) As an athelete Minako shares with Makoto These are just a few examples. Now I don't want anyone out there to start thinking that Minako is just a cheap knock-off 'Dig Deeper!' Minako's diversity and roundness of character is in many ways her greatest strength and certinly makes her the most capable of exisiting as an independent person free from the Sailor Team. Which as you all know this heroine already did.

Minako originally appeared in her own manga series, the prototype and prequel to Sailor Moon, Codename wa Sailor V. When it was proposed that the manga would be adapted as an anime, creator Naoko Takeuchi adapted the ideas from the Sailor V manga to fit a team format. Both manga ran simultaneously: Sailor V was published in the magazine Run Run, while Sailor Moon ran in Nakayoshi. Sailor Venus was added to the Sailor Moon manga cast in the 'Dark Kingdom' (first) storyarc and in the first series of the Sailor Moon anime, in episode #33-J/#29-C. Minako is usually considered the de facto leader of the Sailor Senshi, and has been depicted as a capable fighter despite her quirks. Usagi is partly based on her and thus they share some characteristics; however, due to the anime's prevalence in other countries, Minako is sometimes mistakenly considered the 'knockoff.' Usagi is generally considered slightly less intelligent, somewhat lazier and much less athletic than Minako, while Minako is more graceful and driven but not necessarily posessesing foresight. Where Usagi is clumsy and a crybaby, Minako is merely dramatic. The Sailor V manga actually fully concluded sometime after the conclusion of the 18-volume Sailor Moon manga, but as new 'chapters' of the Sailor V manga were published less often than the Sailor Moon manga, it is only three volumes long.
It is because her creation predates the Sailor Moon metaseries that some aspects of her are slightly incompatible with later rules. For example, her magical attacks lack the strict elemental rules: Venus is typically associated with metal in Chinese astrology, but her attacks are gold in color. Her attacks generally appear vaguely 'light' (Crescent Beam, Crescent Beam Shower) or 'love'-related (Venus Love-Me Chain, Venus Love and Beauty Shock). Though the incorportation of the 'love' element is self-explanatory, many fans do not understand why she is associated with 'light'. The association with light is only found in the anime version. In the BSSM manga, Sailor Venus (rather than Sailor V) never performs her 'Crescent Beam' attack. This is because the Crescent Beam attack is under the jurisdiction of a 'Moon/Light' element, and Sailor Venus no longer has any control over that elemental area. Sailor V, the decoy to Sailor Moon, was able to use that attack because she needed to appear as an authentic Moon Princess. Also, her family name, Aino (ÛÒ°) does not start with the same kanji as that of the Japanese name for her planet, Kinsei (½ðÐÇ). If the pattern of the other Senshi were followed, the logical name for her would be the characters ½ðÒ° (usually read Konno). It is possible that Naoko Takeuchi used the Roman goddess Venus as the basis for her name instead.
Sailor Moon anime and manga Minako Aino as Sailor VenusMinako was the fifth senshi to appear in the Sailor Moon saga. As Sailor V, Usagi Tsukino admired her greatly. She eventually quit being Sailor V and became the Sailor Soldier in gold, white and blue (although in the anime, the "gold" color in her costume appears more orange, as a true gold color cannot be reproduced in anime cels). Outside of her Sailor Senshi life she is quite normal; she likes the colors of red and gold, and she usually has a trademark red hair ribbon in her long blonde hair. She likes volleyball and is a terrible cook. She is a loyal friend and a strong leader. Minako is considered the true leader of the "Inner Senshi" (Inner Warriors, as fans dub Sailor Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Moon) in the manga.
The anime version of her initially started as a somewhat broadly drawn character Usagi idolized as a hero figure. In later seasons Minako's personality slowly mutated into a more excitable, goofy, almost weird character. With the proper conviction, an off-hand interest of hers could quickly evolve into a humorously obsessive ambition. In addition to distancing her from Usagi design-wise, it is generally regarded as a delayed manifestation of the carefree life she could not enjoy while fighting solo. Nonetheless, she still displays great leadership skills and confidence.
The start of this trend is generally considered to have begun in one very popular second-season episode (#78-J, #71-C) called "No thanks, Nurse Venus!" (Venus Minako no nurse daisoudou (The Problems of Venus-Minako as a Nurse)) where Minako takes it upon herself to nurse her flu-stricken friends back to health, but in so doing creates much humorous chaos and destruction in her wake; this is often seen as the template for much of Minako's later characterization.
She is ostensibly the owner of the white magical cat Artemis, who fulfills a guardian role. In the fifth series, Sailor Stars, she attends the same high school as Usagi Tsukino, Ami Mizuno, and Makoto Kino, although for the first four seasons she attends a different junior high school (Shiba Kouen) than the others.
Because of her evasive lifestyle, Minako lacked serious friends and was sometimes considered to be a snob by her peers. Adding to her predicament was a grim fortune she received saying that she would always be unlucky in romantic relationships. Minako's main dream is to become a famous idol. However, in the Live action series, Minako is introduced as an already marginally-popular idol.
References to Minako's family life are downplayed outside of the Sailor V manga, perhaps because her parents look almost identical to Usagi's.
Sailor Venus has also shown the ability to make 'new' attacks depending on her annoyance or rage, such as being spurned romantically. She once created an enormous storm of mini-meteors, unrelated to a similar attack mentioned before. Another example occurs In an episode of Sailor Moon S anime: Magically disguising herself as Sailor Moon, she mimics Sailor Moon's attacks with abilities such as "Love Moon Chain".
In the enormous amount of Sailor Moon yuri d¨jinshi, Minako is usually paired with Rei Hino due to their polar but close friendship in the manga. She can and is generally paired with any other senshi due to her exuberant personality and the image of Venus as a Free Love sort of figure. This is humorously supported by her canonic continued attraction to Haruka Tenoh, even after discovering that character is a girl.
It should be noted, however, that Naoko has expressed no interest in a Minako/Rei relationship, and has portrayed Minako as straight.
The "attraction" to Haruka Tenoh is more than likely the director's doing, as Kunihiko Ikuhara has stated on multiple occassions that he prefers lesbianism. His preference for this tends to lead him to make suggestions about characters in the series that, according to Naoko Takeuchi's work, are really more of a form of fanservice than a loyal interpretation of her work and characters.
In an early DiC promotional tape that advertised Sailor Moon to television stations, Minako was called Carrie.
Live Action Sailor Moon In the live action version, 'Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon', Aino Minako is presented as a somewhat jaded and distant character, probably the greatest modification to her original personality. She is an incumbent idol, and is very famous. Usagi, Ami and Makoto are all fans of her music. Minako also takes on the role of decoy much like her manga counterpart, calling herself Princess and claiming to possess the Ginzuishou in order to protect the real princess. In some ways this is also a more respectful portrayal of Sailor Venus, since the anime tended to overplay her ditzy attitude and downplay her role as a leader. While the live action has done away with much of this playfulness there are hints of it, at the very least, when she interacts with her partner, Artemis, whom she is closest to out of all of the characters.
