Everyone had black hair in PGSM without transforming (except for Makoto, who had dark brown hair). I think if Chibi-Usa were in PGSM (thank the gods she wasn't), she'd have black hair as well. Yeah, I should have thought of that. It was a good idea of doing the wigs only when they were senshi. It wouldn't look good if Ami was walking to school with blue short hair while everyone else had black hair

Genes are the instructions found in each cell of the body that determine how the body is to develop and function. Genes are strung together, one after the other, and packaged into individual chromosomes, which are transmitted from parent to child in a very regular fashion. All chromosomes come in pairs; in humans, there are 23 pairs in all. One chromosome from each pair is inherited from the mother, and one from the father. A gene that codes for a particular function may come in several different forms; that is, a gene that controls pigment in hair may code for blonde hair or black hair. The two genes in a pair may not agree. If the code for one gene is expressed no matter what the other gene says, the first gene is said to be dominant. If both of the genes have to be the same in order for that code to be expressed, those genes are said to be recessive. The commonly used example is that a person with one gene for black hair would have black hair, whether or not the other gene was for blonde hair. Blond hair would show up only if both of the genes in the pair were for blond hair. This is an oversimplification of the genetics of hair color, but it does illustrate the basic definition of dominant and recessive. Now with that in mind, pink haired girls in anime are considered to be redheads since that is the chroma of hair that is the closest parralel in real life. Red hair is not actually a recessive gene (like blonde is), but is rather an "incomplete dominant." In the world of genes, there are dominant genes, which take over any recessive gene (brown, black), recessive genes (blonde), which will be taken over by any dominant gene, or incomplete dominent genes (red). Incomplete dominant genes will "blend" with any dominant, recessive or other incomplete dominant gene. So you've got yourself a red headed parent (let's call those genes aa) and a blonde parent, which we'll represent as bb. 100% of the offspring will have one hair color gene from each parent, or ab. This means red and blonde. Since red will always blend with other genes, the resulting hair color should be a blend of blonde and red, or strawberry blonde. In the case of my parents, which both have brown hair (let's call the brown/black genes C), either one parent or possibly both are carrying one "a" in addition to their brown or black genes, with the possibility of even a blonde thrown in (CC, Cb, or Ca) With this in mind Mamoru is probably a Ca[/b] and Usagi an bb. VMoomooV\>Usagi> | b | b | C | Cb | Cb | a | ab | ab |
[/quote] Actually, I think this was asked in another forum I apart of. o.o I dunno if I explained it right but...eh... most Japanese animation, the child looks NOTHING like the parents. Most of it is due to the fact that they just love color >.> Plus the color represents pre-dominate personalities of each character. Like for example, Hotaru has black hair and purple eyes. Purple is said to mean mystery or mystical properties. While black means death, end or ect. However she doesn't look like her father nor needs glasses as he does. Also, look at Usagi's family too- her earth ones. Ikuko(Usagi's mom) has purplish/lavender hair color. Her eyes are brown. Kenji(Usagi's dad) has the traditional and ordinary hair color Black and brown eyes too. While Usagi and her brother break the color code. Neither of them look like their parents. Usagi has blonde hair and blue eyes Shingo (Usagi's brother) has dirty blondish hair and dark blue eyes too. (I believe). Blonde eyes and blue hair are an actual genetic mutation >.>;; There just aren't that many natural blondes compared to brown hair and black haired people. Then you have the Red heads that are just as rare as blondes. Blue eyes are also rare too. The world population have more brown eyes then any other eye colors. x.x erm...the whole point is, in Anime, not all the children will match the parents. Another point to it is look at Motoki and his sister. His sister has Red-orange hair. He has the same shade of blonde as Shingo. There's another theory that mentions something about roses. White rose + Red rose = Pink Rose. (has no clue where it came from but...you see which rose symbolizes each person.). Also the fact we don't know what hair color or eye color Mamoru's family has or Usagi's grandparents or both sets of grand parents. And if you want to go Silver Millenium- again. We have no clue what Endymion's parents look like. we don't know what Serenity's father look like to make that judgement.

Most of it is due to the fact that they just love color >.> Plus the color represents pre-dominate personalities of each character. Not always. Like for example, Hotaru has black hair and purple eyes. Purple is said to mean mystery or mystical properties. While black means death, end or ect. Like Misato Katsuragi, Ikuko Tsukino or Faye Valentine have purple hair? And yet not all of them are mysterious or mystical. And in japanese culture white represents death. Black beign death is a western thing. Wouldn't his black hair represent death or the end according to your theory? Or Mamoru's for that matter? And yet neither of them really haas anything to do with that do they? While Usagi and her brother break the color code. Neither of them look like their parents. Did you read what I said about blonde being a ressecive trait? My mother has brown hair, as does my biological father... My sister was born with blonde hair. Usagi has blonde hair and blue eyes Shingo (Usagi's brother) has dirty blondish hair and dark blue eyes too. (I believe). Light brown hair and blue eyes. Blonde eyes and blue hair are an actual genetic mutation >.>;; There just aren't that many natural blondes compared to brown hair and black haired people. That's because they are rececive traits that can be carried by a person, but a more dominant gene will over ride them. Not necciserily a mutation. Then you have the Red heads that are just as rare as blondes. Blue eyes are also rare too. The world population have more brown eyes then any other eye colors. Do you have a point to any of this? Did you read what I said? If not why did you quote it? x.x erm...the whole point is, in Anime, not all the children will match the parents. As they don't always in the real world either. And if you want to go Silver Millenium- again. We have no clue what Endymion's parents look like. we don't know what Serenity's father look like to make that judgement. Why would we? they no longer have those bodies even if they are suspiciously the same as their new earth bodies. So you didn't read what I said, you contradicted yourself and brought up irrealivent data. Nice.

To make Rini seem like she is this pure child. The offspring of two pure parents.

thetour.animehunters.com/mareingenii/anime/rumors.htmlRead the first rumor, it talks about this. This one is my favorite: In anime and manga, eye color and hair color have nothing to do with relationships. I have read up on the style and the "color" is only for the viewer of the anime or manga to identify specific characters or more important main characters. Traits are given to them as an identity not because of their birth from one family or another. If it was that way, Usagi would be out of place with her mother having blue hair, father having black, and brother having brown. There you go. Problem solve. Rini(I use English names)has pink hair becuase, "Identify specific characters or more important main characters. Traits are given to them as an identity ."

Her grandmother Queen Serenity has pink hair. It just bright to the point it looks grey in the flash backs. Question answered.
And if not that, it's because the artist decided to color her hair in pink......

Chibiusa has pink hair because originally, Serena's hair was meant to be pink, but it was changed.
