Thanks Creshosk...you know you've changed quite a bit since I first started on this site. Not quite as arrogent anymore, definitly a change fr the better my friend! (course you sorta had a right too be as you are a living Sailor Moon encylopedia, but still I like the new you better)
Rini...where to begin...
(deep breath) Here we go.
Ok, so you guys think Rini is anoying. Well I have to ask you why? 'Her voice is stupid sounding in the dub'
Please! Try to dig just a little! Rini's voice in the dub has nothing to do with her actual charactor. All it accomplished, or fails to accomplish is artistic enjoyment and personaly I really have no problem with Rini's voice. Perversion of a few lines from the original script, yes, her dub voice, no. Because a person is not represented by the sound of their voice. A person's true worth comes from the words that, the sound convays. Not the sound itself. Anything else is extreme shallow thinking and really very lazy. I will say it over and over until I am blue in the face.
DIG PAST THE SURFACE
Alright, I will admit, it is rather difficult to dig past the surface. It requires several skills and opertunities that not everyone possesses. For example, to dig past the surface you have to be curious, you have to be driven to understand, and a part of you has to fall in love with the subject your understanding. I'm not saying kissy kissy, I love you my darling. But to take a quote from a great book called 'The Speaker for the Dead' "Once you truly understand them you can't help loving them the way they love themselves."
I love Rini, and I understand her.
Look at her through my eyes:
Courage.
I get only a step down from enraged when I here people dissing on the line. "Stupid wand, it worked in training!" Think for a second, imagine yourself at age 10. What grade would you be in? 5th? Maybe just 6th. How brave were YOU in fifth grade!!!
It's pretty easy for face off against a monster when your Sailor Moon and all you got to do is wave your septer and poof the enemy is moon dusted. Sailor Moon is a teenager and has faced off against some of the toughest bad guys in the galaxy. I'd be shocked if she haddn't toughened up a little bit by then. Her continued nievity in the face of danger is amusing...but I digress.
Let's replace Rini with Serena. Let's replace a ten year old with a Fifteen+ year old. Let's replace someone with the experience of facing off against some of the worst villians in anime...with a little girl.
A little girl with no experience, a little girl who was forcfully stripped away from her parents in the future a little girl...with a little wand. And yet...that girl does not run away. That girl bravly stands her ground, toe to toe with thoes same villians as her mother. But unlike her mom who is confidant in her power and abilities. This little girl has a wand only with the ability to annoy, not to kill. AND IT DOESN'T EVEN DO THAT WELL! She faces off against thoes bad guys, she yells her attack, knowing full well that this might be another time her wand might fail her, and this time...she might not survive the failure.
That's Courage.
Next the so-called incest between her and her father Darien.
First of all I'm pretty disgusted that people keep comming back to this topic. Once agian understand that Rini is about TEN! Now think back yet again to when you were ten. Which two people were you closest too in your lives? Hmmm...prehaps that's the wrong question... how about: Which two people had the greatest effect on your lives? For 90% of the world its your Mother and Father. Now imagine what it would be like for a ten year old to be seperated from its parents for long periods of time. The child is going to long for the closeness, the sureness of that relationship. If you need a concrete example go watch the Sailor Moon SuperS movie 'Black Dream Hole' and you'll understand what I'm talking about. Rini longs for her mother's love. That's why she stays with her mom and lives at her house. She could have lived with Darien, HECK THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SIMPLER. But no, she chose to live with her mom and although they argue all the time you have to look at Serena's and Rini's relationship the same way you have too look at Serena's and Rei's relationship. Pretend that they are sisters and all will become clear in an instant. They love each other very much, but, like siblings, they are always trying to be one up on each other.
Serena simply takes it too seriously, but heck that's just the way she is and we love her for it.
Well I suspose that's enough for now, anyone who actualy read all of this will probably see pink spots in front of their eyes for sometime to come.
Wow, I forgot how fun that was, ready and waiting for constructive critsism!
