It was kind of a tangent. However I agree with what you've said. But in the case of Mamoru and Usagi - the answer is that they didn't. Why?
Because she's pregnant at their wedding - very pregnant. That's the solid proof we have in the matter and that's the answer that everyone is looking for. Whether or not it's gross for a high school junior/senior to have sex with a middle schooler is irrelevant to the question as well.
The short and simple is - they had sex. And probably more then the once that made her pregnant.

Creshosk & Yaten, lend me your ears; I have something for you to hear! (sorry, old saying my mom used on my older brother & me when we'd fight.) Let's not bring about the past & start new arguements, capiche? (understand? in Italian)
Well, some girls *glares at my exgf* like to keep it all in one piece until they're married. Besides, the anime was directed primarily at teens (so was the manga, but what you see on tv latches onto you a bit faster than what you read in a magazine), and you don't want to provoke sex towards that age group.
Hawk & I are actually saving ourselves for our wedding night (not just my choice, but also his). It's gonna be 4 years that we'll have been together when we do finally "tie the knot!" A lot of people hold onto their virginity for different reasons (religious reasons, see if it's really love, etc.), & I could actually say I'm naive about Usagi & Mamoru NOT being virgins. I mean, it is possible to hold out, you just have to be able to control yourself. By the age that Mamoru is, if you haven't had it, you have built up a lot of restraint towards it (kinda like how if you haven't gone out drinking & doing drugs by the time you're a junior in high school, you prolly won't through college - psych teacher that was obsessed w/ drug & alcohol abuse told my class about that - I'm living proof!) Sure, there'll be some of you that argue that point, but if you set your mind to do ANYTHING, then even saving yourself for your wedding night can happen, right Hawk? Here it is already over a year & a half for Hawk & me, & we're definitely still virgins! No, YOU're definately still a virgin In my opinion, I just feel that if you can hold out the time frame till your wedding night, that shows really deep, true love. The act itself is partial to love, but at the same time, it's a LOT of LUST. Haven't ya heard the saying, "If you can get the milk free, why buy the cow?" meaning, if you can have sex w/o getting married, why get married, ya know? Coz we don't just want the milk, we want the steak as well My apologies if I went off on a completely random tangent...I just get really, I guess defensive is a good word, especially 'cause there are people out there that make virignity not such a sacred entity anymore, & it really is. SAVE YOURSELVES!!!!
Well, I'm not saying that it's not sacred, but I think the concept of saving it till the wedding night is being extorted. I mean, sure you can wait, but it shouldn't be seen as something that should be reserved for marriage. It's just another step in your relationship (a big one at that). Mamoru and Usagi love each other, and knowing that they're gonna be together in the future would only take away the 'need' to wait. They're assured that they'll love each other.

Coz we don't just want the milk, we want the steak as well That really doesn't work in the analogy. . . because that requires killing the cow, chopping it up and eating it. . . kinda canibalistic. . .

Do you see us going & ruining what will wind up being one of the most memorable day/nights that we'll have by making love too soon? NOPE. God created sex to be a sacred union between a married man or woman (go read the book of Song of Songs/Solomon). I guess for those that don't believe in God & what not, that might not seem as sacred to someone like myself. In my mind, having sex before marriage would be a HUGE stab in the back for God. I c/wouldn't allow myself to do something like that.

My family is very weird. I don't believe in sex before marriage either, but you own't believe this. My sister, who's turning fourteen soon, isn't a virgin anymore. When I heard that I wanted to kill her boyfriend. I guess the thought of her not a virgin just scared me, and when it finally happened at a young age, I blew it. I was very close to not being a virgin, but I decided not to go ahead with it, that's why "he" dumped me. Aw wel..

It does take two to tango, and while being pressured into it is common, frankly you're either going to do it or not. There's no inbetween. PS. You're old boyfriend sounds like a jerk - it's a good thing he dumped you because you don't want someone like that anyway.

interesting discussion ;D well I think mamoru and usagi are not virgins. well at the beginning in season one maybe, but in the end she is 16 and he 19. quite a normal time to start sexual activity... and yeah, they know that they will have a daughter anyway so sooner or later they will have sex :-P they cannot avoid it when you argue with "they are too young" look at Chibiusa and Helios, they are not even teenagers and kissed (with tongue!) well well....

when you argue with "they are too young" look at Chibiusa and Helios, they are not even teenagers and kissed (with tongue!) In the manga, chronologically both are ancient.
